A UN official said in an interview that Western nations “don’t need more cars, more TVs.”
Yeah… what we REALLY don’t need? Busybody UN officials telling us how to live our lives.

Ah yes…no doubt he’d agree we do, however, need to give more money to the UN.
the people we chose to represent us tell a different story.
While we’re at it, who needs air conditioning — or fondue sets?
Somebody call Sally Struthers.
i wonder how many tv’s and cars he has and is he from a “western country” and the “poor” in the USA live far greater then most of the middle class in the rest of the world so he can go fly a kite with a key on in a thunderstorm.
We should take away his car while he is driving around in new york city.
Why must the very same faction of people who always want more money stand in the way of the prosperity that creates that money? If we listen to the fools who tell us what to do there would be no one working to provide the taxes they wish to slave out of nations.
We all know it’s a zero-sum game. Every TV you buy (I hear Basil has more than 530 television sets, some that still shut off with the white dot) is a TV some slob in Cameroon can’t buy. And it’s a damn shame, because Cameroon’s Funniest Home Videos is an awesome show.
Or would be, if Basil had not bought up too many video cameras.
If Westerners stop buying cars & TVs then what about all the Easterners it will put out of work? Hmm? Hmm? Did the UN official think about that?
Actually, what the Western nations don’t need is the UN.
If I get rid of my car I’m going to need to find a new place to hide three of my guns.
