Uncommon Sense from “Ashton”

Wasn’t too sure on Kelso playing Steve Jobs, but he seems quite a lot less dumb after delivering this strangely conservative speech to moron teenagers:

Are “hard work” and “humility” conservative values? I guess nowadays they are.

  1. I sometimes cynically wonder if such statements are market-driven. If Ashton didn’t have a movie coming out, I’d have nothing at all to be cynical about.

But Ashton does have new movie out — with a lot of the studio’s money riding on it.

The studios have seen that movies bomb when the actors or director alienate conservatives.

In a bit of excellent timing, Ashton makes a conservative-friendly statement.

Example 2: Matt Damon is found in the conservative press to be a hypocrite touting public schools while sending his kids to private school.

This issue makes headlines when Damon has a big-budget film about to be released, on which the studio has a lot of money riding. He suddenly has a public “break up” with Obama. I wouldn’t be cynical about that, either — if he didn’t have a movie just about to be released.

Watch for an actress or actor to suddenly get some conservative credentials when a film is about to hit the theaters. See if it happens at any other time during their career.
