Howard Dean has sent out a mass DNC e-mail on why Democrats need to donate to fight McCain. Basically Dean argues that McCain is not a moderate at all but in fact a right-wing nutjob. It’s like he didn’t write it for Democrats at all but instead to reassure us conservatives:
Dear Frank,
Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are done. John McCain will be the Republican nominee — he’s the only one with a reasonable path to the nomination.
So how do we beat him? We stand up — right now — start fighting, and show the American people that he’s not who they think he is.
We can’t wait for Hillary or Barack to win the nomination. Now that the Republicans have a candidate, the dollars are starting to pour in from special interests who will do anything to beat the Democratic nominee. They’re just waiting for us to decide so they can start smearing.
Here’s what U.S. News and World Report recently reported about how the RNC is getting ready…[RNC Chairman Mike] Duncan and his aides want to be ready to go on the offensive against the Democratic nominee presumptive in an effort to define the opposition candidate on GOP terms. Opposition research is already well along, and the plan is for surrogates to talk to the media around the country while a TV ad campaign in key states and media markets as soon as the Democratic nominee is determined.
We must be ready to fight back, and fight back hard, today.
Now that we know our opponent, it’s time to build a national effort on the programs you and I have worked so hard to create over the last four years – from our cutting-edge technology to our voter protection programs, it’s time to shift gears.
I need you to contribute $25, $50, or $100 to help us fight John McCain right now:

John McCain is a media darling, but don’t trust his carefully-crafted image – he’s worked for years to brand himself. From Iraq to health care, Social Security to special interest tax cuts to ethics, he’s promising nothing more than a third Bush term.
After championing campaign finance reform and ethics legislation to score political points, he now has a staggering amount of lobbyists involved in every aspect of his campaign. In fact, two of the top three sources for John McCain’s campaign cash are D.C. lobbying firms, and he looked the other way as Jack Abramoff bought and paid for the Republican Party and the Culture of Corruption.
On immigration reform, he’s run as far to the right as he can, aligning himself with the most extreme elements of the Republican Party.
On the war, McCain scoffed at Bush’s call to leave troops in Iraq for 50 years, saying “Make it a hundred!”
On a woman’s right to choose, McCain has vowed to appoint judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade.
On the economy, one of the issues that the American people care most about, McCain has said: “I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”
We can’t afford four more years with a President who drives the economy into the ground. We can’t afford four more years with a President who fights an endless war in Iraq. We can’t afford four more years with a President who gives tax cuts to companies who ship jobs overseas; with a President who can’t get every American the health care they deserve; with a President we just can’t trust.
I don’t just want to beat John McCain – I want it to be a landslide. If you’re as committed as I am, I need you to make a contribution today:

Only the Democratic Party is legally allowed to spend unlimited amounts of money to back our nominee and tell the real story about John McCain. We proved that our strategy worked in 2006, and it will work again this fall.
Help us today:

Let’s get going,
Howard Dean
Man, they already have a “Fight McCain” site up. This is the first time Democrats have been for fighting something something conservatives want to fight against. Maybe one day they’ll even take on terrorists… but I won’t hold my breath… unless I’m underwater and even then not for more than a minute.

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhahahaaaa! Gotta love Dean.
On the economy, one of the issues that the American people care most about, McCain has said: “I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”
I JUST saw him in the Reagan Library for God’s sake. What more education about economics does he need?
Don’t see how McCain or any stupid Repub could beat the Dems this year. They are outnumbering Republicans like 2 to 1 at primary turnouts. As far as the number of people turning out to elections goes it is like 75% liberal 25% conservative. Conservatives are done plus they suck and are clueless freaks. Also many of them are men who secretly want to have sex with other men. Even some of the married ones want this really badly. Larry Craig is a great example of a super conservative republican male.
ps William Sledd rules!
Could we worse – it could be some horrible candidate who doesn’t want to protect the environment. The oceans are turning to acid and destroying the coral reef. This is an urgent situation and John McCain is very concerned about it.
Hey Frank, don’t send him [Howard Dean] your money just yet. He is a doctor and doesn’t know anything about politics. Don’t worry, I have a secret plan to get Hillary to do a Dean Scream.
I am so distraught that John McCain would come home from the Hanoi Hilton only to learn that the country is overrun and we are to witness the fall and rise of communism in our lifetime. God Bless. Jon
Don’t see how McCain or any stupid Repub could beat the Dems this year.
I do

Nate really does mean hysteria doesn’t it?
The incredible irony here is that the Clintons will be put in the white house again for very similar reasons, just directed at a different “not conservative enough”. I hope you guys wake up before the election and realize you only have 2 options and one of them is REALLY not what you want…
I guess now that Herr Paul is done for, all of the good trolls…I mean, “true conservatives”…have gone back to Kos and DU. Now we’re left with losers like Mishkab and Nate. Sigh.
Hillary or Barack are going to beat McCain stupid in the general election. He can’t carry the south, won’t get the vote of conservatives and the MSM will savage him once he has the Republican nomination! Keating Five will be the drum beat! He will also pick some dickweed for his veep like Warren Rudman who gave us justice Souter! But…go ahead and vote for him like a bunch of mind-numbed idiots! Let the Washington Post and the MSM pick our candidate!
John McCain is like a new kind of conservative. He doesn’t even need Limbaugh and that crowd to kick ass. Go John McCain!!
So Democrats want to fight McCain – unfortunately he doesn’t usually seem very interested in fighting them.
This: “We can’t afford four more years with a President who drives the economy into the ground.”
Should have been: “We can’t afford four years with a President who drives the economy.”
The govt. should just stay the eff out of the economy ala Rothbard, Mises, Adam Smith.
Also, Mishkab argues like a petulant child who believes that what he sees on Sesame Street is real life. Turn off CNN and read a book, preferrably one with some words of more than 3 syllables.

Don’t forget about our “real conservative” McCain strokers.
Now that it’s pretty much settled, I think I would’ve preferred Ron Paul to this joke of a republican.
Jeeze, now I feel like I need another shower.
if you are looking to the government to solve any of the problems in your life, you are a loser already and will remain a victim for the rest of your life! McCain doesn’t get this and never will because he aint a conservative!
What makes you think mccain ever gave a damn about what conservatives think?
You can’t house train a coyote, even with a rolled up newspaper.
Everyone had a shot at voting for the last real conservative, Ron Paul, but instead we decided to go with the little tyrant McCain who will easily lose to the big tyrants Obama or Clinton.
McCain seems to have an sgreement with Huckabee which is why Huckabee won the south. Look at the West Virginia outcome, his people got in and made a deal with the caucus goers to pick Huck over Romney. I think he has a plan to win the south, Huck as veep.

When you say “we”, who are you referring to? Certainly not most of us on this blog.
WAL-
I can see your point, but as it is now, we have the options of choosing which sub-par candidate to vote for in June, and then in November. By that time, the catchphrase of “I will extend a hand across party lines” will just be the same rhetoric that we heard from the democrat party during the last round of Congressional elections. Unfortunately, I think that most of the Republican contenders were not only extending but already holding hands with the Left
Where Romney, McCain, Giuliani, and Huck are concerned, their attributes don’t outnumber their drawbacks. I just think that the disillusionment that Right conservatives are experiencing now is going to leave them feeling like choosing the lesser of two evils is a far off dream.
Super Tuesday Votes predict GOP candidate will get buried by a Democratic avalanche in November
Democratic votes for Clinton and Obama: 14,622,822 (63.6%)
Republican votes for McCain, Romney and Huckabee: 8,370,022 (36.4%)

But how do you really feel? 😛
/sarcasm
Be mindful that JoeB131 might call you a bigot for your use of the words: “loser”, “victim”, “solve”, and “if”.
I very much agree with many who post here. But something is grinding away in my head about the next four years: CRISIS MANAGEMENT. It’s gonna be ugly. Who’s the best crisis manager in the bunch. I say, Romney probably has the coolest head.
This and what ussjc said. And congrats on Minn.’s caucus outcome, ussjc.
I’m not sure what disturbs me more.. that Frank was kinda sorta defending John McCain, or that Frank is on Howard Dean’s mailing list…
Hang’s head in shame…I know but it isn’t called The People’s Republic of MN for nothing…
Whatever you do, don’t stay home and sit the election out. Fiscal conservatives need to either take control of the republican party or get engaged in one of the 3rd parties.
I ran for the US House in 2006, that was the first and last time I will run for office, in the foreseable future. The candidates are not hearing from you! Over 99% of the phone calls, and over 99% of the mail I received as a candidate was from liberal groups who were asking for something from the federal government. Federal funds for abortions, expansion of social security and medicare, federal global warming BS mandates, you name it. It would be easy for someone who has been an office holder for a number of years to get the idea that this is what the majority of the American people want.
GO GET INVOLVED. Go to your precint convention, volunteer to be a county or district chair or officer. You will be suprised how few people want to do these things and how quickly you will rise to a position where you can start making a difference. There are qualified fiscal conservatives out there, they just need the support and encouragement to run for office.
A short summary of WAL’s post:
John McCain is going to be a gigantic dick sodomizing conservatives so be sure to vote for him.
I am struck by your rapier, nay, lightning strike wit, but since it’s as about as insightful as any of your other posts, I’m not surprised.
Caveats and qualifiers are what people add when they’re capable of seeing their opponents’ side of the argument.
This is apparently something you haven’t mastered yet.
McCain has a history of screwing his conservative base. I’m hoping against hope that maybe he will screw his liberal base and turn conservative again. Is that even a possibility??
Caveats and qualifiers are what people add when they’re capable of seeing their opponents’ side of the argument. This is apparently something you haven’t mastered yet.
Oh Goody! Is this a lesson? I promise to study hard Professor WAL to master the fine art of blog comment analysis.
9:37 PM is usually a time when mid-school kids ought to be going nightey-night. Forget about Professor WAL’s lesson for tonight, kiddo; you’ll have plenty of schoolwork tomorrow!
