Not only that, but Barrack Obama only recognizes civilian gun ownership for “hunting and target shooting.” So the reason the Founding Father put in the 2nd Amendment is because they really liked target shooting?
Seriously, though, we need to start getting in people’s heads that self-defense is the most fundamental human right. I wouldn’t trust anyone who doesn’t understand that.

My guess with the “semi-automatic” ban comment is that, like most libs, Obama just has never seen a gun in his life and knows nothing about them, and figured that a semi-automatic is like an automatic, only it shoots half as fast.

I consider it useless to have a firearm at hand if I am not very familiar with the workings of said firearm and the capabilities of it in my hand. Therefore, everything from my .270 Remington Model 700 to my Kel-Tec .380 has been used as a “target shooting” gun. And I’ll be honest, whenever somebody breaks into my house, I’m exercising in “target shooting” in order to protect life and property.

While I agree that many people kill those they know, Most of the rabid conservatives I know are smart enough to know that making a martyr out of someone is stupid in the extreme. You can’t disprove the ideas of a ghost. Hence the largely mythological views of JFK, FDR, and a multitude of other “martyrs”.
Men are just men, all are flawed. It is in how we handle those flaws and how honest we are about them that true leaders and heros are made. None of the current crop of political opportunists make the grade.
If Obama gets selected President, I suspect there will be many cases of people suddenly “losing” their guns, as well as their stockpiles of ammo. Might not be a bad idea, you know, to “lose” one or two guns a year… Just a thought.

With more to lose, a more specific cause, and the prospect of a more definitive plan of action (ranging from protests, through voting and recall petitions, to…whatever), there might be a more rigorous response than you obtained with your attempt to protest illegals.
Besides, with an estimated 0.9 firearms for every person in the US, confiscation may be a more difficult process to implement than the optimists in the gun snatch camp perceive.

When we write our new constitution, The current 2nd ammendment should be included in the core articles, not an ammendment. If it becomes necessary to take up arms to preserve the 2nd, we should probably start with laying siege on D.C. This would be a real civil war, unlike what we commonly refer to as the American civil war, where the struggle was not for control of the existing country, but to create a separate one. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, because civil wars are the nastiest of all. I would much rather fly 10,000 miles to smoke a camel jockey than pull the trigger on a neighbor, or family member. Sadly, civil wars are sometimes necessary, as are revolutions. Citizens should be the sovereigns, and the elected should be subject to them. Our elect today do not seem to grasp this concept.
