  1. And how did this ever come up, anyway?

Did the CA legislature just have nothing better to do, so they added to their agenda “You know what we ought to allow? . . . ”

Or, did some non-citizen try to become a poll worker, either at a voting location or out on the streets, and was told they couldn’t, and said “Why, that’s unfair! This political jurisdiction to which I do not belong has to welcome my work with open arms! I’ll petition a representative (which I don’t have in this jurisdiction, not being a citizen) to redress this wrong!” And the legislature listened to them? Will they listen to me if I contact them to change something in California?

    I don’t get it.

  2. Either:
everyone in the world is a citizen of California
    or:
there exists some difference between citizens of California and non-citizens of California.

If the latter is the case, the difference must involve the rights and privileges of the two groups.

If these are systematcally erased, this brings us back to the first question.

  3. Will they listen to me if I contact them to change something in California?

Well, sure, if you’re a minority or a woman or an Earth-Firster. ‘Cause what we do here in California affects the Whole World. Worried about anthropogenic Climate Change? We’ll slap ourselves with a gas tax, and then a bigger gas tax, and gasoline additive requirements, and automotive anti-smog device requirements, and a whole bunch of regulations requiring power companies to get a large percentage of their power from renewable resources (clean wind! free solar!), at prohibitive costs to the customers (because it turns out wind turbines and solar cells are not free, or even cheap), and add on a bunch of taxes and surcharges on power, too, to “encourage” recalcitrant Californians to Go Solar! and stop using their air conditioners and “Flex their Power!” by not using any, and so on and on and on. Step right up, state your grievance – we’ll be happy to punish ourselves to “fix” it.
