Why I Love Moon Nukers

CapitalistB [High Praise!] pointed out this rather amusing Twitter account that fairly well sums up the folly of looking for wisdom in comment threads. A few sample quotes:

Back in the day, we called comments “letters to the editor.” Someone read them, picked the best ones, & published them. Many were STILL bad.

Yes, sometimes comment sections contain insight and reasoned discussion. But do you really want to take that chance?

Be the change you want to see in the world. Don’t read internet comments.

The comments section has never added anything to your life.

Instead of reading the uninspired drivel of a comments section, you could articulate your own opinion by writing an article of your own!

While this caution generally applies, I consider IMAO the exception that proves the rule.

Commenters here don’t usually pipe up unless they have something constructive or entertaining to add.

Or… you can take this opportunity to leave the dumbest comment you can think of and prove me wrong.

I’m good either way.

Reading online comments is like letting someone punch your brain in the face with a fistful of stupid. If you doubt this, consider that I’ve been hit with the “fist of stupid” so many times, I now think brains have faces. Kudos, Internet.

All I can say is that when my pipe’s up that’s added entertainment at least for me.
