In case you didn’t know (I didn’t) tomorrow is Election Day for some extra-off-year elections. It’s hard to get worked up on an odd number year; no national posts are up for a vote, not even the usually pre-determined elections for Representatives. Instead, there are a few mayor and governor elections. One of which I care a little about because is in the state I lived the longest: New Jersey. The New Jersey governor race is always on an extra-off-year because, if you’ve watched The Sopranos, you know the kind of people who live in Jersey like to avoid attention.
I still remember the slogans for one of those elections: “Florio Free in ’93!” And we were. We had Christine Todd Whitman who was a Republican superstar for a while; she even gave the response to one of President Clinton’s State of the Union speeches. I don’t know what she’s doing now; I think she’s in drug rehab somewhere.
Ah, memories.
First, and here in Virginia we’re voting for governor as well. Go vote, Virginians!
Hey, in Texas our election tomorrow has the fantabulously important Prop #2; which will amend our state constitution to define marriage as existing only between a man and a woman, instead of just any old combination. Needless to say, I’ve already voted early.
There have been some great phone scams from the opponents to this Prop that have NOT garnered any national media attention. Have you heard of any of them Frank? Anyone else?
What, Seth, does Texas only allow the “One from column A and one from Column B; NO SUBSTITUIONS!” approach?
But what if Ma Sheehan want to marry a cheeseburger/ostrich/cross-dressing wombat now that she’s not spoken for?
Where in Joisey Frank?? I live in Great Adventureville (Jackson). I live so close and never go…is it the same with Disney?
Anyway, I don’t even know if I can bring myself to vote tomorrow. Forrester’s latest ad is his wife saying, ‘Jon Corzine is lying about my husband. Doug is pro choice, he supports stem cell research, blahblahblah…’ This makes me want to vote for him?? HELLO??? Bueller???

Is it just me, or were both the Kilgore and Kaine campaigns very poorly run? It certainly seems that way from up here in Maryland. A bunch of College Republicans went down to volunteer one weekend, and it didnt seem like they had a clue what was going on.
Oh, and what’s this about Michael Schiavo endorsing Kaine? Is that really going to help Kaine win Virginia?
Hey, I’m in Colorado and we lost an election last week! So neener neener neener. First postvote!
Dr. E Scientist, I guess that right now Ma Sheehan could sure give the cheeseburger/ostrich/cross-dressing wombat a try. The point is to make a “no substitutions” amendment. But Ma Sheehan’s done enough crazy media stunts, we really don’t need her doing the cross-dressing wombat marriage thing.
The main idea is to see if any of you guys across the fruited plain have heard of the wacky telephone scams being aimed at voters down here to get the Prop #2 voted down. The attorney general’s office in TX is having to call large lists of people to correct the disinformation put out by the homosexual lobbyists. It’s really crazy stuff that would be making national news if it were being done by say, anyone vaguely conservative, for instance.
