Things are looking scary up ahead. The economy is tanking and apparently Obama is planning the suicidal step of more taxes to pay for all his exorbitant spending. He’ll be raising taxes on those making $250,000 or more, i.e., job creators. It’s literally retarded; you cannot have normal mental processes and think raising taxes in this economy is not a horrible, dangerous thing. I expected Obama to be a screw up as he’s never run anything in his life, but at least on some things where experience fails you’d think there would be basic common sense.
But I digress. The point is, things are looking bad, but this is America. It’s too strong for even Obama to screw up. We just have to keep our heads above waters and after the next few years of misery there will be tons of opportunities. Dirt cheap stocks and real estate will abound and anyone with a little money left after all this is over will be able to get rich easy. So, if you just survive the next couple years, are able to put a little bit of money aside for investing, you will be abound with riches in the future. And if you don’t survive, you will be remembered.
Be honorable, ronin.
We’re all pullin’ for ya, Frank.
I’m going to make my fortune selling bullets! They are silver by the way, and for anyone who has them they will always be asking, “Who was that masked man (or woman) with the silver bullets? I throw in the mask for free with every order.
That’s easy for you to say, Mr. “Bigtime Blogger with Lucrative Ads all over his Lucrative, Bigtime Blog.” While we’re out in the freezing weather, armwrestling over first dibs at the Burger King dumpster, you’ll be on your private island fortress counting all your money and reading Hot Air on your Kindle 2 while SarahK critiques TV shows she’s watching on the giant HDTV in her Gulfstream G550.
That’s what I see in our future.
.
.
Unless I get a gov’t bailout – then I’ll be the one w/ an island fortress and a gulfstream. Ya never really know how it’s all gonna work out.
These tax increases will hit small and big businesses alike. They will pass those costs on to the smart people as well as the Obama voters. Get ready for inflation. The only other way business can save, is to cut employees. Then there are the carbon taxes that will send your utility bills and gasoline thru the roof. More inflation. 12% unemployment. The messiah has feet of clay.
Come on Frank, common sense was obviously banned in Blue States during the 1960’s.
Hippie liberal douche bags.
#4 bob A, you are very optimistic with 12% unemployment. Kommiefornia already has 10% and taht one has not even been in office 2 full months. I predict 20 – 30% unemployment, mostly due to the fact that as companies close or move overseas, that one will cow tow to the unions and raise taxes on corporations to keep jobs from staying here. After pelosi, reid and fienstein authorize money to be printed like a commie on crack, inflation will make carter look sensible.
It is my belief that the flappy eared dumbo is so stupid, he will turn power over to biden while he vacations it what is now the venesualien territory of hawaii. The minions of pelousy and reid will suckle at the neck of what was once a taxpayer, and marvell that there is no blood left to suck. Then we will enter April.
“gasoline thru the roof” – #4, Bob A
Hmm, that reminds me, does anyone have a horse they’re willing to part with?
He’ll be raising taxes on those making $250,000 or more
Or so he says. And you believe him! Unbelievable. After observing that abuot 66% of what the man says is (1) vacuous bullshit or (2) outright lies and deception, you believe him when he says no, no, no, you can be SURE that no one making less than $250,000 will be paying more taxes while I’m President.
What kind of sucker do you have to be to swallow that?
Trust me. This is one of those Obama “promises” that will have to be regretfully revisited in light of “new events” in a year or two, and adjusted by a smidge. If I had to take a guess, I’d say that any of you making over $50,000 or so are going to be feeling the pain when Obama and the Democratic Congress need to pay back all the IOUs they just signed your name to.
Michael Steele, you ignorant slut!
#7 MarkoMancuso, Had one, but the cops shot it in the butt. Must have mistaken it for a monkey.
OBAMA,Democrat,Liberal —— All of these are words that do not belong in the same paragraph as COMMON SENSE! Where is yours????
Marko, I no longer have a horse but I’ve still got the recipe. And a whole bunch of homemade baseballs.
Dirt cheap stocks and real estate will abound and anyone with a little money left after all this is over will be able to get rich easy. So, if you just survive the next couple years, are able to put a little bit of money aside for investing, you will be abound with riches in the future.
True that. Check out http://www.minyanville.com as well, since they’ve been talking about today’s problems since 2005..
from 2005 – http://www.minyanville.com/articles/index.php?a=8282
Ahead of the curve. Very instructive and enjoyable to read. Good page to key on is this one – http://www.minyanville.com/subsection/randomthoughts/
Most of the authors are working in the business, not just sitting in a studio BSing about stocks.
And they constantly talk about the opportunities of the future but you have to preserve some capital to invest when we get to the other side. If you’re still in the market riding it down, most professionals would say it’s probably too late to sell, and I’d agree.
for what it’s worth.
The democrats are either stupid or evil or both. I pick both.
As a student with Grad school ambitions, I’m untouched by your “recession”, and since I’ll probably become a member of Academia instead of becoming a productive member of society (as a psych major, I don’t really have that option anyway), it doesn’t matter how long it lasts! MUHAHAHAHAHA
“He’ll be raising taxes on those making $250,000 or more, i.e., job creators. It’s literally retarded; you cannot have normal mental processes and think raising taxes in this economy is not a horrible, dangerous thing.”
Just because I find it necessary to be accurate, Obama is not, I repeat not, raising taxes in this economy for any American. The tax raises referenced would not occur until 2011. This is when the Bush tax cuts expire and neither Obama nor Congress has has proposed any tax raises. Actually, Obama’s tax cuts include over 95% of Americans–those making over a quarter million dollars a year. Which I am super psyched about because I definitely am not making a quarter milli…. Obama Bot error 5307. Please reboot… Reverting to original programming…
HATE AMERICA! DESTROY!
America can do great things. We are capable of getting out of this mess and becoming great again. We’re not perfect, we never have been, but the system we put together 200 years ago is the closest the world has ever gotten to perfection. I don’t think for a minute we should be talking down the power of the American spirit. But we can’t act like we’re basically on the right path now. Just about everything is fundamentally the opposite of what it’s supposed to be. And maybe revolution really is the only option.
The American system worked so well for so long because it harnessed humanity’s dual nature — we’re very selfish, but have a strong conscience. Capitalism takes our greed and a three-branch representative government takes our lust for power and they turn it into a greater good, and then our conscience drives us to fill in, on our own free will, for the ones left behind, through charity and voluntary volunteering. But in the 20th century, we gradually became a fascist socialist state. Incentive disappeared, and our greed went unsated. The branches of government, rather than fighting each other for our approval, united with each other against us. Charity was drowned out by coercive government taking and giving, and like Scrooge, we feel no need to give some of what little is left of our time and money to charity, as the government has already done that job for us, and with religion being forced out of all public spheres, replaced by the omnipresent government, there’s no longer any opportunities for our consciences to be pressed.
My greatest fear now is that America may have become too big not to fail.
“…. Obama Bot error 5307. Please reboot… Reverting to original programming…”
Hey dick head. I just said that you were inaccurate. I don’t want anyone to raise taxes on anyone and I defiantly, DEFIANTLY do not hate America. I love capitalism, and what can I say… I’m also fond of accuracy.
“Be honorably, ronin.”
So what exactly IS the “Ronin honor code?” We need an article on that, Frank.
Jimmy:
I know you asked Frank, not me, but here’s a good place to start.
I must brush up my sword and firearm skills. Who knows what the future holds for us now.
…and just when we need Republicans to step up, be men, and be conservative (which would, of course, put them back in charge in two years with the opportunity to stop, and reverse, much of this train wreck) expect Arlen Specter, John McCain, Lindsay Graham and the other douchebags that kidnapped and destroyed the party of Reagan to screw things up royally.
The ‘rich’ for the most part don’t pay taxes.
Tax is simply a cost of doing business, just like fuel surcharges, material cost increases, whatever. Those cost increases will get passed on to the consumer in the form of higher products and service prices. YOU pay the tax increase.
Maybe not day one. But as soon as competitive forces can no longer absorb the ‘COST INCREASE’, it gets passed on to you.
Oh, it’s a tax on the CEO making 400 million a year, he can afford it. Same deal folks, the CEO now wants 410 million a year, and that increase in cost get passed on to you.
The depressing part of this ? Monkeys would learn how this works in a shorter period of time than people do. Most people never figure it out in fact. They sit around cheering about how ‘the Rich’ are going to have to kick in more money.
I think the only thing we can do, as productive Americans with old-fashioned values, is drink heavily for the next 4 years.
Many words of wisdom have preceded us. Thanks for the tip, Basil.
There’s a lot of ‘doom and gloom’ out there, isn’t there?
You know, in the last 30 years, I started two business during the height of recessions. One failed, the other succeeded. In response to the current crisis (that I’ve honestly seen coming since the 60’s), I’ve decided to expand my business and work harder than ever before – at EVERYTHING from serving my customers to growing my own food to harvesting my own heating fuel. I work harder and I “run twice as fast” – because in this Alice In Wonderland, if I stop, I’ll just drop out and sail away. Some day I will… In the meantime, my progeny deserve one last good fight from me. I think that’s the honorable thing to do. So, I’m taking your advice to heart, Frank.
Oi Franky the problem here is the explosive inflation that is bound to occur on the upswing. Let me tell you how it goes since I can tell you are round about 30 years of age:
Everything is FINE now with regards inflation even if they printed a bunch of money ……..this is because the money velocity is down. The minute people start buying again others will see prices going up and so rather than wait they feel compelled to buy before the price goes up again. This is how it happened in the states in the 70’s with everything…in the 2000’s with housing and in Brazil pretty much all the time!!! Its pernicious.
But a side problem is anyone who has been a responsible saver and is holding cash …said cash will be weak in no time at all. So getting rich probably won’t happen. In fact I’m certain Obama’s plan is exactly the opposite. Having loaded up malleable cronies with cash ( example: Citibank ) they will have the buying power. Anyone remotely honest will lack buying power unless already rich.
So personally I do not think its going to go so nicely as you say.
But nice of you to try. And you will notice there is not one reference in this comment to send you to the bathroom for a compulsive hand washing session just because you were so nice.
There is more to this country than the human population currently passing through. Benjamin Franklin said “I’ve lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing Proofs I see of this Truth — That God governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?” I like to keep in mind who is really in charge, and it is not me or anybody in Washington, DC. We have our work do do, but part of that is to sit back and watch things like global warming conferences getting frozen out, and enjoy the show. The Speaker’s personal aircraft could not make it to the global warming conference today. Due to snow. This happens just often enough to make me think that God continues to have a sense of humor. As nasty as things are likely to get, this country and its inhabitants have come through a lot. Washington DC was once sacked. The Civil War wiped out a huge fraction of the US population. We just need to keep doing our jobs, and trying to vote for as few idiots and lemmings as possible.
I shall now return to digging my hole.
#6 – Plentyobailouts,
“Then we will enter April.”
That was truly inspired. Sa-Lute!
In other news, it has been learned that Michael Steele is considering a name change now that Snoop Dog has become available… Muwhahahahahah!
Paging Michael Steele. Paging Michael Steele. Sir, your balls are ready. You may retrieve them at DNC headquarters, you pathetic wanker. Now get the hell out.
Paging Michael Vick. Paging Michael Vick. Sir, would you please drop off the snarling, vicious Pit Bull we ordered.
Monkey!!! Muwhahahahah!!!!
Dear Senior Wombat : What does your hole digging project pay? Where can I apply?
BuckDilled: Here here! on the Michael Steele comment. GeeSus…..WTF? ……….. MEET THE NEW BOSS …… HE’S THE SAME AS THE OLD BOSS ……. WE DON’T GET MCCAINED AGAIN !!!
BuckDilled! The DNC Called and they had Michael Steele’s balls but they had never seen a “pair” before and didn’t know exactly what they had. Someone at headquarters threw them into a frying pan and served them up with some fava beans and a nice Chianti…
I’m concerned when the IRA broker keeps advising that “selling now is selling at the bottom” and then the market continues to drop. We’ve had more bottoms than Barney Frank, and for much the same reason.
I’m worried about the perfect storm of Pelosi/Reid/Obama doing as much damage as humanly possible in ways that are more clever than Clinton’s occasional gaff like Hillarycare or Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. When you damage the economy during an election, you are evil and will win at all costs, but we assume you did it for power. When you continue to damage after winning an election, I can’t help but think you are doing this because you hate America and want to destroy our ability to function. We are going into massive debt because of something they caused (banking collapse due to forcing them to give bad loans, and taking kickbacks from bankers selling interest in those loans and blocking inquiry into this mess). What will happen if we have a non-self-inflicted wound like another 9/11 or Katrina? What happens the day China says, “We have enough of your debt now, thanks. No more.”, perhaps followed by “Oh, by the way, now that you can’t fund a major war, we’ll be taking Taiwan now, and maybe Japan just for kicks.” By the way, almost no microchips are manufactured in the US anymore – it’s mostly in, you guessed it, Taiwan. Or China itself. Who needs to drop an EMP device to destroy our electronics when they can cut off the pipe to getting more? Or maybe they could do both.
Anyway, I remember seeing parts of some opera where some evil witch tricks the hero to kill his own brother to avenge her mother – if the mother is communism, the evil witch is liberalism, the hero is the American voter/taxpayer/worker, and the brother is the economy, you pretty much get the point.
If things come together again, maybe we should look at Distributism – basically distributing means of production broadly rather than to the state (socialism) or to a few uberwealthy (capitalism) – I think the issue of “X Company is too big to fail” means that X company has broken capitalism – nothing should be “too big” to live with the consequences of bad management, and therefore use the state to confiscate money and put those who did not manage poorly into debt for that failure. A simple combination of stopping the granting of wavers to monopolies and not allowing individuals who did not found companies to own more than X amount of stock in them, or maybe limiting the number of boards of directors any one person or company may sit on or be represented on – that may go a long way toward preventing the economic and political castes from destroying the future and present. We’ve basically been pincered by the greed of political and economic power. I’m not sure if we can shoot our way out of it, but we can do our best to avoid both tax issues legally the way they do and stop fueling the means of exploitation by boycotting a number of companies with a sort of “Eat This Not That” of spending choices. GE, for example, would be a big NO. Pepsi- No. Etc.
Any business bringing in $250K is going to have a heck of a time with more than a couple of employees. In CA, the cost of worker’s comp, insurance, SDI, etc would make it impossible to carry more than 2-3 employees part time. Full time, you get nailed for health insurance.
A quater mill sounds like a lot of $ unless you own a small biz & have to pay for crap like office space, equipment, worker’s comp (which in CA is obscene), supplies, professional memberships, inventory, etc. Even if you just have a few 1099 indepenent contractors, that $250K gets eaten up fast.
I’d love to hear from other small biz owners about how wealthy they are if the business makes $250K a year.
Screwing things up is the Obama plan. The worse it gets, the bigger the dependent class, the more need for his benevolence.

“There is less difference than many suppose between the ideal Socialist system, in which the big businesses are run by the State, and the present Capitalist system, in which the State is run by the big businesses.”
– GKC, Come to Think of It.
Dear FreemonSandalwould
The only pay is a chance to avoid the herds of lemmings and simians. There is likely to be a lot more of what I am digging into before we are done. I see brown clouds looming.
What a bunch of whiners. Why by the time the axis of stooopid get through taxing my boss out of business, I’ll be enjoying my beans and rice on my extended unemployment benefits. Of course I’ll be sitting in the dark. Eating cold food. Thanks to the cap and trade he has planned. Trying to hide from the civilian security force he has planned. No, no. It’s okay. We’ll all be just fine….
