Do you remember caring about liberals in the aftermath of 9/11? I don’t; too angry at terrorists to worry about some nonsense argument with fellow Americans. Very few people retreated to politics when faced with such a tragedy. I only remember a couple examples like Michael Moore who wondered why the terrorists didn’t a pick a place they could kill Republicans, but it was a break from politics on both sides for a while. Well, week or two.
Now with the shooting in Tuscon, it was mere minutes before people were trying to make it political. Of course, in this instance, the right would have gladly left politics out but many on the left thought they saw blood in the water and immediately went into a frenzy. I’m starting to wonder if 9/11 set the bar – if anything is not as tragic as that, then we can immediately retreat to our politics. Like if terrorists blow up a bus, we’ll be in full political bickering while the victims are still being identified.
Anyway, this last week wore on me. It shouldn’t be part of regular discourse having to assure people you’re not responsible for murder. I can’t believe how many media outlets actually went along with that absolute paranoid nonsense. Do you even have to point out the irony of whining about discourse while making bad faiths accusations of murder against your political opponents? Only good thing is there is no indication the left is influential to any one other than themselves these days, so I guess we could just ignore them. Of course, then they might go crazy and hurt people to get attention.
Oh. Too late.
There are lots of laws making sure Paul Krugman can’t get a gun, right?
Not sure I agree with “Of course, in this instance, the right would have gladly left politics out ” – i know early speculation was this was an illegal perpetrator. In which case the right, as justified as they might be, would have completely politicized this.
But, but, but, but…. well… Sarah Palin with crosshairs on her map didn’t help and stuff. SARAH PALIN SARAH PALIN TEA PARTY TEA PARTY GEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORGE BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH! They started it!
The post’s title alone was breathtaking. The double-entendre and visual imagery was subtle yet striking. Bodies making a good platform. I know you meant it more for the mainstream media and other loons on the left. And that is very, very true.
Yet, in a way, it also fits in slightly with the President’s speech in Arizona. Here, let me stand up high up, before throngs, here on this stage of slaughter, and soak up the adulation from partisan throngs. And all because people died. And standing on these bodies, the president was trying to boost himself higher, higher in sagging ratings, capitalizing on a national crisis for political gain.
Unfair, you say? Obama’s speech was nonpartisan and he was a united not a divider? Let me offer three points that cloud that coffee:
1) He gave the speech IN Arizona. Why? He didn’t step foot in Arizona to quell the debate over SB1070 in the months that the illegal immigration issue. He didn’t act on behalf of all Americans to unite the country prior to the 2010 election. In fact, his Justice Dept sued the state while he personally ignored it and its troubles. Yet, someone dies and he treks to Tucson.
2) Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano came along. Why? A lone gunman is not a DOJ matter, let alone a national security issue for DHS. I’ll give Luntz-lite a pass, since she has ties to the state. But Stedman has no ties to Arizona, other than spitting at its sovereignty. So, Obama brought his cabinet posse to for a full force of a federal facedown. Politics.
3) Obama gave the speech at a university. There is no more liberal location than a college in a college town, even in Arizona. This is why Obama stumped for liberals at universities in 2010; safe venues, sure to get applause and adoration. A more appropriate venue for Obama’s speech would have been a town square, or even a shopping mall. Tucson must have places like this. Even a park, something resembling the National Mall. But no, it was given at a liberal stronghold, where Obama knew he’d feel the love.
So, because of the location, the companions and the venue, the speech was political. And when Obama stood there soaking up the applause at the dais of death, he was standing on a platform of bodies.
Moi
We need a law to keep Krugman from stealing oxygen.
Paul Krugman found his normal soap-box too small so he jumped up on someones coffin to attack the same people he has been attacking all along.
Monkeys throw poo. That’s what they do. It’s all they’re capable of. Monkeys can’t win debate with convincing points. They can’t comprehend human suffering. No matter what the situation, they just scream, run in circles and throw poo.
Oh, my bad, I thought this was going to be about Zombie rights. I mean if the dead are allowed to vote, are supporting ACORN, and be reporters, shouldn’t they have more representitives holding office? Or are some in office and are just “passing.”?
America needs Big Boy reporters! Not all the sissified infobabes and metrosexual men that give us our news now. That’s why I stopped watching TV News, period! Haven’t missed a beat either! Keeps my blood pressure and my desire to go out and punch someone in check!
Those on the left that immediately started blaming it on “political rhetoric” were the exact same group who:
* Created and grew Bush Derangement Syndrome
* Wished Dick Cheney “would not come out” anytime he checked into a hospital
* Hoped Tony Snow “would just die quickly” when he was diagnosed with cancer
* …and are now silent in regards to the calls for the assasination of Sarah Palin

On 9/11, I went to work and the first thing i heard was the flaming liberal d’bag I was was working for say: “THAT IDIOT GEORGE BUSH”
No concern for the possibility that 10,000+ people had been killed or that there might be more coming, no sadness or whatever you want to call it, it was all BUSH’S FAULT!! I didn’t know him when the first WTC bombing happened but I’m pretty darn sure he wasn’t yelling about that idiot Clinton.
It was that moment that I decided I really really hated people like him.
I’ll say it again.
Blaming Palin, Hannity and Limbaugh for the Tucson killings is like blaming John Lennon for Sharon Tates murder.
It is interesting that now that Conservatives have learned to play the vitriol game the left has decided that we need to change the rules of discourse. Of course those rule changes only apply to Conservatives. We should silence:
Limbaugh
Palin
Hannity
Coulter
O’Reily
Savage
Bortz
and any other conservative voices.
How ever:
Mauer
Frankin
Kos
Huffington
Dingle
Rangel
Jackson Sr and Jr
Jeremiah Wright
Alan Grayson
Sheriff Dupnik
Sean Penn
Alec Baldwin
and assorted columnists at the Washington Post and New York Times
They should all be able to foam at the mouth and spew hatred and dissension at will.
Our Founding Fathers collective spinning in the grave may be part of what’s driving the new Ice Age.
But Seanmahair, no one is is stupid enough to believe their BS anymore… except maybe a few republicans in Congress who managed to avoid the first sweep… and we’ll know which ones they are when we see who sits next to a Dem during the next State of the Union show.
Get your ‘cross-hairs’ ready! 😉
