Allahpundit is a bit cynical about Fred Thompson’s commentaries on the Paul Harvey show. Then again, Allahpundit is always cynical; it’s kinda his shtick. The comparison to Jane Fleming (no relation) is just over the top, though. I don’t know if you’ve seen her on FOX News, but she’s about the most boring pundit ever. She’s basically a Democrat talking point programmed robot. Her appearance on Red Eye was a disaster because she seemed too afraid to stray from said talking point to make a joke.
Fred Thompson, though, is all about red meat. That sort of commentary may seem easy to come by in the blogosphere, but how often do we see it in our politicians? Even though Fred Thompson may only be saying things we already know, it’s such a joyous thing to see this said by someone who may be running for president and actually has a chance to win. What demoralized conservatives need right now is red meat, and Fred Thompson is a butcher with a blood-stained apron.
Now, I’m not saying Fred Thompson is the best thing since sliced bread; I’m just saying he’s the best thing since bread. In fact, he’s better than bread. If the devil had tempted Jesus to turn stone into Fred Thompson, Jesus would have no response because man can live on Fred Thompson alone.
And what makes Fred Thopson a better preacher than Duncan Hunter, may I ask? I haven’t heard Fred’s stance on illegal immigration (12-20 million illegals here already) and immigration in general. It would be a good question to pose for him also :what does he thin about T. Kennedy’s immigration act of 1965. I think it is long overdue for revision.
At least Hunter is pretty clear about illegals.
Even Chuck Norris knows that Fred’s better than bread.
Has Fred mentioned how he plans to put J00s in Space yet?

I’ve been thinking for a while about the as yet hypothetical Fred Thompson presidential campaign. The fact that he’s the only viable Republican who doesn’t make me roll my eyes and think “WTF?!” makes him a pretty good candidate to me.
If he don’t run, I have no clue what I’ll do in 2008. man I hate politicians!

TBinSTL – no need to get personal with “your mama”, OK? You are welcome. I did check Google and all I heard was “protect the border” and “work out some kind of deal” on the 12-20 million illegals already here. What exactly is this “deal”? I hope it is not amnesty by other name. I never heard from Thompson a more specific plan, like enforcing existing laws prohibiting all services to illegals (medical, social, etc.), increasing penalties and fines to anyone hiring illegals, deporting apprehended illegals. These measures would make staying here illegally untenable and coming here illegally – senseless. Please understand, I like Thompson much, much more than anyone currently running, however what I read on Hunter’s site was as good, and his stance on this issue better defined. SarahK is correct that Hunter’s name recognition is nowhere near that of Thompson’s, and that is a shame.
My friends at church here in Nashville, TN have come up for a slogan for Thompson to use…

I could support Fred if he’d think about Romney as VP. The man has integrity and that’s almost unheard of in todays Washington power circles. Maybe he could clean house while Fred’s staring people down. It’s a thought.
