From 1945, the slideshow version of pamphlet version of Friedrich Hayek’s classic 1944 book, “The Road to Serfdom” (caution – gawdawful background music; turn down your speakers to avoid headaches):
Gotta love the irony of fact that the pamphlet from which these pictures are taken was published & distributed by General Motors.
Scary thing is, I think we’re about 4 minutes into this scenario: “Early step of all dictators is to inflame the majority in common cause against some scapegoat minority”.
AIG bonuses, anyone?
“Early step of all dictators is to inflame the majority in common cause against some scapegoat minority”.
It reminds me of the Kerrybot’s comment about “Ken Lay & the boys” and how his supporters would say really dumb things like “Bush has become the CEO of corporate America!”.
I wonder what they would say about the auto industry’s new progressive Commander-in-CEO…
Good find, Harvey.
(I thought the music accompaniment was apropos.)
The music IS appropriate, after a fashion, as it provides a discordant and unpleasant background which emphasizes the disturbing progression of images, but I personally found the music to be *distractingly* unpleasant.
Something darkly melodic would’ve worked just as well. Darth Vader’s theme, for example.
I enjoyed the music, but it did distract me from reading the subtitles.
Wow. That was a good find. Eerily Presient. And yet the idiot that march in lock-step with “the planners” don’t realize that all their revisionism is ill-preparing them for their strong-man. Wolf in sheep’s clothing. But they never admit it until the final bleat out of their sheepish maw as the wolf bites into their sweet, sweet carotid.
We are well on that road and picking up speed. The question is: Who gets to be the minority this time? My money is on conservatives gettin’ the nod.
Who gets to be the minority?
Ironically, it’s the same person Obama needs to get out of this economic mess – businessmen.
Any white collar worker in the financial services, insurance, auto manufacturing, or health care industry.
Remember how hard he beat those drums on the AIG bonuses? Those people had their lives threatened.
I’ve seen businessmen criticized before, but nothing like the venom that’s flowing from this administration.
am i weird for actually liking the music?
it sounds so old and corny, like the music that you heard in “bioshock”
okay woah, wrote that prematurely, WTF IS HAPPENING?! two and a heaf minutes in and my ear is assualted by some kind of raping of sounds
Im taking bids right now on whether or not the leftwing nuts will go the way of nazis, and fool themselves into believing they are actually doing good, right after they have mowed down their 5th group of (insert group of people here)
im putting down over 9000 dollars that they will go nazi on everyone, maybe, MAYBE one obama youth will defect after murdering a kid who attended a tea party with his mother, but thats it.
2:35 – “the least educated – thrilled and convinced by fiery oratory, form a party.”
Then why do all the ‘smartest people in the room’ want to join?
