Fringe

Too soon?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go ahead and watch the season finale. Anyway, pretty gutsy. It could come off as exploitative, but I can’t think of a better way for them to express what they were going for in one image. As soon as they started to zoom out, I knew they were going to show us a slightly different New York City skyline, but I didn’t think of that.

BTW, what’s up with Olivia’s partner wearing a beret? Is he about to leave the FBI to join the hip Boston art scene?

  1. I was a little shocked that they had the towers, but it was good to see them standing again – like an old friend. Of course, the whole time my wife was totally confused, asking questions (“weren’t they in a hotel?”). This is probably the first (real) sci-fi she’s ever seen. Can’t wait til next year. (Live long and prosper)

  2. I missed it. I think I was drinking beer and watching I Robot on FX and listening to Rush’s podcast at the same time.
But hey, they showed Fringe, what, every update Tuesday of every other month of every other year. Good solid FOX scheduling. Jeez.
It’s a very good show, mainly because of the old guy who played that crazy-assed steward in Lord Of The Rings. He’s a fun actor.

  3. If I ever put a beret on, I’m going to kill myself by shoving a spoon up my ass until I bleed to death. I want it to be slow and painful to remind me that I have been a dill weed!

  4. This is why I wish I had DSL or broadband (AOL dial-up iz teh fail). I missed it on TV & can’t watch it online w/o waiting 4 hours for it to load 1 hour of video.

On the plus side, I can’t watch the video Harvey posted last either. Apparently, it makes you want to recycle the evirotard hosting it into fish bait.

  5. i called what building they were in the moment the camera started to pan back from them. ’cause i’m awesome.

i did not, however, see the grave stone coming… should have, but honestly, i was shocked by that one. makes sense now, because we’ve heard him say on many occasions how sick peter was and peter never remembers anything about it… niffty twist…

oh, and did you check out the headline on the newspaper in bell’s office? obama moves into the “new” white house?

  6. I didn’t realize what was with the grave until he took out the coin there. Though yeah, I did notice the headline right away.

The Twin Towers thing was pretty cool.

  7. It looked like they hit the white house instead. There was a newspaper article about the Obama’s moving into “New White House.”

I did see the grave stone coming though.

  8. usspeanutfarmer: If you are referring to what Agent Francis was wearing when they were investigating the mystery truck, I thought there was too much brim on it to be considered a beret…more like a Tam O’Shanter, I thought. But I did think it looked stupid, but is there anything a man can wear on his head with a suit that doesn’t?

  9. That’s twice this past week I saw Leonard Nimoy in a storyline involving alternate realities.

I guess that means the Romulans were really behind 9/11. Right building, wrong universe.

  10. They telegraphed the pull back to the Towers, but it works. If Obama turns out to be a raging conservative in this alternate universe I may try and move there. No surprise on the gravestone, they set that up earlier in the season when we learned that Walter’s former partner had a do-it-yourself kid kit. I was thinking Peter had been “improved” but now it looks like their going with clone. Great show!

BTW, even the SF has a hard time pulling off the beret look and they’re all totally lethal.

Wasn’t the creepy guy in the episode before blaming it on the romulans and claiming he was the son of Sarek?

I was very impressed with the first season of Fringe.

  12. I don’t think it was too soon. We all dream of a better place, like one where the events of Sept. 11th didn’t happen. That is how I interpreted their use of the Twin Towers.
