When a Congressman asked whether he should refinance his mortgage, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said, “I’m not a qualified financial adviser”.
Weird response. I would’ve expected him to say “just print enough money to pay it off”.

Isn’t that like a surgeon saying “I’m not qualified to treat a hangnail”?
Like Tim Geithner not being qualifies to do taxes, I guess.
Guess who else has a very low IQ (“I’m Qualified”) rating?
is the congressman guilty of attempting insider trading or undue influence or something? seems a bit shady to me
@2 – “It’s pretty rare where we have the chance to look at two policy approaches and follow them over several years and see which one worked.”
True, but the instances that exist are quite revealing. Off the top of my head:
East Berlin/West Berlin
East Germany/West Germany
North Korea/South Korea
China/Hong Kong
Southwestern US/Parts of Mexico not annexed after the Mexican-American War
the contrast between what’s happened in the United States and what’s happened in a lot of other developing countries, Europe in particular.
Oh…Okay Mr. President…could you have someone fetch up a globe and then would you be so kind as to point out the great nation of EUROPE?
@4: Yes, I was wondering where he was going with that —
as he does all he can to make the U.S. more like Greece (avoiding any austerity measures to pay down debt)
or France (raising income taxes on the wealthy)
or the U.K. (with the slow takeover of its laws by Muslim immigrants).
No wonder Valerie Jarrett doesn’t let him talk about it enough.
How is it that the man tasked with the financial health of this country can’t answer a simple question? Fire him.
