No Opportunity for the Left

Despite even liberals having to admit there is no evidence the Tuscon shooter was influenced by the right, they’re still hoping to capitalize on the event because they’re ghouls and have nothing better going on. Liberals have been starving for a while, and since they finally smell a little blood in the water, they’re in a complete frenzy. Also, they have it in their head that Bill Clinton recovered after 1994 because of the Oklahoma City bombing, so that means this shooting is Obama’s awesome opportunity!

Here’s a little bit of wisdom that needs to get repeated more often: History never repeats itself. Ever. I don’t know who came up with the expression to opposite effect, but it’s moronic. Or maybe I should say, “A watched history never repeats.” For one thing, the first time something happens, you don’t have people everywhere saying, “This is just like that other time, so here is what will probably happen…” And that’s the big difference: Expectations. What happens most of the time is people look back in history for results they want and try to force current events to fit the past. So what was organic and unpredictable the first time is now awkward and forced. For people who call themselves “progressives”, their heads are stuck in the past quite a lot. It’s like how liberals try to see every conflict like the civil rights battle because they feel that’s something they clearly won and want to repeat, but all it demonstrates is they never really understood what happened there.

So now liberals see a big tragedy as a political opportunity thinking of how in the past things vaguely similar led to political gains… except everyone now sees that’s what they’re doing and they’re exposed as ghoulish. that the left even failed to convince a majority of Democrats that heated rhetoric is to blame for the tragedy. So once again the left just keeps failing in big ways because of their disconnect from the general public; there’s just too much information out there now for their silly narratives to take hold.

  1. There’s a certain level of desperation in most of what liberals do these days. I’m guessing it’s what happens when you are so out of touch with reality that the world you live in slowly starts disappearing out from underneath you.

  2. But history does repeat itself, Frank!

Look at Iraq. The liberals said it was just like Vietnam and they were right! They were right because if they were wrong America is just racist. Nonetheless, they were right.

That, my friends, is what you reap when you let public edumacation teach your kids history.

  3. I, for one, would not be downtrodden if history repeats itself. During the reign of the last incompetent peacenik Democrat POTUS, Three Mile Island led to many fun jokes here in the Susquehanna Valley.

“My girlfriend’s from Middletown. She’s great! Have you ever had a girlfriend who glowed in the dark like mine?”

  4. I disagree. History does repeat itself, though I agree with you in this instance. History repeats itself on large-scale things (civilizations rise and fall; voters get tired of whoever’s in office after a while; Security/military/whatever get more and more lax until something happens to jar them back to vigilance; etc.), but not on something this specific.

  5. You called lefties sharks. You were thinking Jaws, picturing Sherrif Brody with his oxygen tank and rifle, weren’t you? Stop sending me subliminal incitment to violence Frank. Stop… must..

  6. While we were discussing the Clinton v. Obama legacy in April, I predicted what is happening now. I was wrong in that I thought it would be a redux of the militia demonization; however, the left has been waiting for this moment. We may laugh; however, all they need to do is set the stage for the next manufactured event for them to spin against conservatives. The manufactured assault on Ruby Ridge, in and of itself, did not propel Clinton; however, it led to the manufactured assault at Waco, which ultimately inspired McVeigh’s heinous plan to attack the Murrah Building.

Right now, Obama’s next step is to link himself to the tragedy by appearing and calling for calm. If done well, any future events will be spun as attacks on him personally.

Then as now, I ask you to call on the League of Superfriends.

Failing that, pray for the safety of Sarah Palin and her family. If harm comes to her, things will be bad all around.

  7. @Burma if only more conservatives were as wise to the lefts predictable tactics as you…

One advantage with the internet conservatives aren’t rolling over anymore. Conservatives aren’t dependent on milquetoast beltway Republicans to argue and defend anymore. The left is used to controlling the whole field and both endzones. That they now only control 80 yards of it is making them crazy.

  8. If I didn’t already know how low the socialists are willing to stoop to capitalize on just about anything, I would be astonished by the way they have responded to this nightmare in Tucson……actually……I was going to try to write some kind of intelligent response to the whole thing, but, screw it…..I don’t even know what to say….somebody with snakes in his brain lost it and killed a lot of people. He murdered a little girl for Christ’s sake. And all some people can do in response is to make up crap about why it’s all because of the evil things conservatives say and do. All I know about Congresswoman Giffords is that her politics are different from my politics, and that she is a decent human being who didn’t have this coming, and that some idiot shot her. The socialist left doesn’t seem to understand this for the human tragedy that it is, instead they seem to see it as some kind of opportunity to play political games. I pray for the people whose lives were destroyed by this guy, and I pray for their families, and I pray for this country…….

  9. Just before they passed the Health Control law Bill Clinton assured the Social Democrats that if they didn’t emulate his failure all would be well for them come election time. Perhaps they will do better attempting to emulate his successes.

  10. @Shiggz: It’s their tactics and also their game. The game for them in this is to solidify the base and move swing voters to Obama, while vilifying Palin and others. Moves on gun control, etc., are just noise. It’s all about those voters. They don’t even need to win the swing voters, they just need to make Obama seem a little more sympathetic while making Palin seem less sympathetic.

And true, they’ll not likely be able to carry this as far as they would have before FNC and the Internet; however, their tactics will likely bring them some benefits, especially if they can do a follow-on with another tragedy — created or capitalized on.

  11. Hey-oh, I’m prolly past anyone reading this, but I have one last piece of the puzzle. Just remember that when the Palin “crosshairs” piece originally came up, we dismissed it as lunacy. Now, it’s a tool in a national debate. We may dismiss the current lunacy; however, the next time the issue of violence comes, this meme will have more force.
