Whoopty-freakin’-doo if Bush knew the levees had breached a few hours earlier than we thought. It’s not as if a few hours could have saved anything – by Monday evening at dinner time, the images on the news showed my neighborhood (Lakeview) totally flooded. Whatever time Bush knew, the damage was already done, unless he knew as the levees were crumbling – and considering that was right after the hurricane, while cell phones, tv signals, and wind-measuring devices had all been knocked out by the storm, I highly doubt if anyone was getting decent information.
I’m all for publicly flogging the imbeciles who thought New Orleans had “normal” soil conditions and built the levees accordingly, but that’s a bunch of numbnut civil engineers, not W. Bush, or Bush Sr. who was president while they were building the 17th St. Canal floodwall.
