Comparing Apples to Hand Grenades: Both Are Round and Potentially Deadly

Apparently the narrative the nutroots have for Iran executing gays is that in America the evil religious right don’t let gays marry which is totally exactly the same thing. The variation is that it starts with not letting gays marry, and then it moves on to rounding up and killing them (like in Kentucky when it outlawed cousins being married they eventually started rounding up and executing cousins). Basically, you’re either for letting gays marry or your for executing them; there is no middle ground (at least that their tiny brains can comprehend). More importantly, no matter how evil some foreigners may seem, Americans and especially conservatives are just as bad if not worse.
Which seems like a great argument for not pissing us off.

  1. This is what we get for emptying out the psych wards and insane asylums in the 80s by gutting the involuntary commitment laws.
The real wonder is how they managed to type without forgetting to breathe.

  2. Your complete lack of empathy for the executioner community suggesting they’re just a bunch of bushhitlers going around killing people for breaking the law shows just what a insensitive, homo-catle-cousinphobic you really are!*
    * Ah….Mr Moderator, is this a new record for totally cool, insightful, provocative run-on progressive sentence? Huh, Huh?! What’ll I win? Some high praise and a new car, maybe?

  3. You know, I wonder…
I generally don’t hit the links to Kos very often. When I do, it really is like being surrounded by paranoid schizophrenics who have been off their meds for way too long. After the posted articles are the comments- lots of them- and it’s like everyone is having a bad acid trip or severely hung over.
I wonder if once in a while, a couple of them take the time to read what everyone posts there & think to themselves, “Wow! It’s astounding just how f**king crazy we all really are! How can we be party to this?”
How any semi-literate buffoon could look at the latently racist, anti-Semitic, violent trash the “mainstream” left spews & not see it for what it is defies reason.

  4. The nutroots really anger me. But its a good thing they are out there. Before the web the only place you found these traitorous perverts was on university campuses. The left-wing press never reported on them, protecting them.
Now they are out in the open for all Americans to see. And that is a good thing. We all can observe first hand the evil that lurks on the left. They’re a real monkey on the backs of the Democrats. LOL

  5. I had a nice in-depth chat once with a woman who insisted that calling a boy a “sissy” is violence against women. I made sure to ask enough follow-ups to clarify her position. No, she didn’t think it was “like” violence or “tantamount to” violence, she honestly thought it was on the same moral plane as actual violence, even though no one got physically injured as a result.
I conclude that at least one of the following must be true:
    (1) the woman has never experienced actual violence and so has no real basis of comparison
    (2) the woman has a cognitive disability, wherein she cannot distinguish between varying degrees of things or sort out simile and metaphor from factual statements
    (3) the woman is brainwashed and/or has no moral compass
Personally I think it’s a combination of #1 and #3. That’s just my humble observation, but I think it applies here. People who have no experience of a society that murders its gays might think that the emotional pain gays experience from not allowing gays to marry would be the same as the emotional pain they’d suffer if their lover was executed and they were next in line for the noose. And media and movie industries echoing that would only compound the problem.

  6. Wacky Hermit… you have a very good point. Sometimes the only way to help people like that is to punch them in their monkey faces and show them what real violence is. That is the fun thing about pacifists… no matter how many times you knock them down, when they get up you just have to remind them they are a pacifist and then you get to knock them down again. It is really a challenging and fun workout…

  7. There’s never any middle ground with these people. You’re either with them on every single issue, or you’re an evil, lying, Fundamentalist Christian, murdering, racist, cowardly, Jewish, [expletive] dictator who loves W and is helping him take over the world to spread his evil ways and kill everyone.
Personally, I have no problem with gay people, but due to the liberal inability to address individual issues individually, they would probably still call me a homophobe because of my stance on the war, guns, immigration, economics, etc. This is why I like you people; you’re much more tolerant.

  8. I refuse to read Kos. Every time I do, I get really mad about something, and then I feel compelled to speak up in the misguided belief that these are rational human beings who just don’t know any better, and then I have an army of trolls all over everything I ever wrote for the past twenty years looking for any contradiction or fallacy they can find.
Well, I talk a lot. I think a lot. And that means over the years, I’ve misspoken a great many times and changed my mind a great many times. I think I’ve flip-flopped eight or nine times on the gay marriage question, and I’m probably still not done deciding.
It wouldn’t be so bad if people would CHECK THE DATE on the crap they find. What, I said something stupid in 1992? Gee, you’re right, that /is/ stupid. But I’m 15 years older now, and I don’t think that anymore, DUMBASS.

  9. Why weren’t gays clamoring to get married in the mid-90s when Clinton signed The Defense of Marriage Act? Where were all the gay-ins and mass gay weddings performed in proud defiance of the law?
George Stephanopoulos sheds light on this in one of his books. He cites how the Clintons, still smarting from the ’94 bloodbath and fearful of what the upcoming ’96 election would hold, were perfectly willing to throw the gays and their issues under the bus. When advised that gays weren’t going to like this, an angry Bill Clinton snapped “Well maybe you better remind those people everything we’ve done for them!(?)”
The only ones truly interested in seeing gay marriage pass are the divorce lawyers, salivating at the bitchy bonanza wealthy gay breakups would yield. If Hillary wins this election, watch for the issue of gay marriage to quietly go away…

  10. “…or you’re an evil, lying, Fundamentalist Christian, murdering, racist, cowardly, Jewish, [expletive] dictator who loves W and is helping him take over the world to spread his evil ways and kill everyone.”
You talk like that’s a bad thing!

Dude, not acceptable, people are going to think your me and I just hit the A and R in the wrong order, I’m not going through this again on another board! I’m going to assume I was here first and demand you take up a new handle!
