At least Duke is a private college. You’d think that’d make them appreciate capitalism, but nooooo. There were only two electrical providers around here, Duke and Progress Energy. Since electrical companies apparently hate capitalism, they’ve now merged into “the largest utility in the country.” And they immediately fired the guy who was supposed to be CEO (former PE CEO Bill Johnson) in favor of Jim Rogers for some reason.
And the typically somewhat conservative NCSU (my alma mater as of Saturday) isn’t much better. Our guest speaker spent half an hour whining about the decline of popularity of Affirmative Action, claiming that NCSU needs to do more to promote diversity, including people of all sexual orientations. He also claimed that “voting for Obama” is “not enough” to “support diversity.” He also completely ignored just how few of the doctorates (the only ones who walked and had their names called) had pronounceable names. Seriously, it was like 80% Indians (and Bangladeshi, etc.), with token amounts of whites and non-Indian minorities.
Pretty stupid speech to make in a red state with half the graduates being Agriculture or Engineering college grads.
What the hell…? Look, I know I went to college in the Stone Age (History was easy back then–we just called it “yesterday”) but our school health insurance consisted of putting out yellow plastic warning signs when the floor was wet. No wonder college costs a bazillion dollars now.
What if you want to switch back? Seems to me, if you have “gender identity disorder“ before your….reassignment, then you’ll still have it after. So you’ll be just as screwed up when they’re done chopping it off. It could go on for years.
