Fear of Edwards

It’s come out that in 2004 that Karl Rove, fearing the then unknown John Edwards (he was the Obama of that year), coordinated an attack on John Kerry figuring the Democrats would then rally behind him and help the more vulnerable Kerry win the nomination.
Of course today there’s no candidate out there with as many negatives and as easy to attack as sissy, hypocritical John Edwards. Still, he’s not giving up. Recently, Rove had this “harsh” attack on Hillary Clinton:

“She enters the general election campaign with the highest negatives of any candidate in the history of the Gallup poll.
“It just says people have made an opinion about her. It’s hard to change opinions once you’ve been a high-profile person in the public eye, as she has for 16 or 17 years.”

Ooh! Harsh!
Edwards has seized on this in a new fundraising letter that Rove fears him.
Come on. Kittens don’t fear him. It would be the Republican’s dream if this piece of fluff is nominated. The guy is so ludicrous as a candidate, he almost rivals Kucinich. There has never been this transparent a phony get this close to a nomination. It would be the most entertaining presidential race ever if he won the primary, and IMAO could capitalize on bashing him so much that I’m sure by November 2008 we’d have traffic to rival the Daily Kos.
So, nutroots, you really think you’re the mainstream and you like Edwards? You get him nominated. Stop getting distracted by your tails and focus on that. Prove your vast grassroots power!

  1. I’d just fear having Edwards in office with his finger on the button. Not that he’d push the button. But, he’d probably paint the button with his nail polish to make it more festive. And, who’d be afraid of us with a gay-looking button? No one.

  2. You mean, bad guys like Howard Dean? CNSNews.com reports that Dean thinks ANY DEMOCRAT is better than a Republican for the next president. Quoting Dean, “Any Democrat is better than any Republican running.” Maybe Dean wants a Balmer-like (Microsoft) screaming and chair-throwing position in the next administration regardless of who it is Apparently he doesn’t fear Edwards. Maybe visa versa?

  3. Jimmy-
Since Dean is the grand poobah of the DNC, would you expect him to say anything else? Even if his personal opinion is that the Democrat candidates rank between slime mold (kookcinick) and a root canal procedure (Hillary) on the desireability scale, he is going to support them in public.
Of course Dean may be nuts enough for that to be his actual opinion, but since his job security requires that the Donkeys win the White House in 2008, I would bet the thought of some of the candidates winning makes him loose bowel control.

  4. Brian, I guess the optimist in me hopes that Dean would actually take a lesson out of Steve Balmer’s book and throw a chair at Edwards. And secondly, I love it when Dean reinserts himself into ANY campaign. At least even the liberals recognized last time that Dean was a nut case. Not happening yet with Hillary, Obamma or Edwards. And THAT, my friend, scares me to hell!
