The did it: A 3D printed gun.
The only thing that isn’t printed is the firing pin (for which you use a common nail) and the ammo (this particular one fires a .380). And of course, you need a 3D printer, but those are only going to get better and more available as times goes by meaning soon anyone will be able to print up a gun based on a downloadable design. So expect a push for full background checks for downloads.
Can’t stop the signal. The right to bear arms is eventually coming to every country. Freedom is a stream you can’t swim against forever. And maybe we can now stop wasting our time on foolish gun control laws that all operate on the fantasy that you can keep criminals from getting weapons.

I only see one flaw in this plan. The bane of every computer user: Printer Drivers! And once you get that set up, getting the stupid printer to print your gun and not the last part of the gun the previous person was trying to print. (Ok, two flaws).
We are on the cusp of the Diamond Age

If anything, expect to see a ban / registration requirement for 3D printers sometime soon.
they never had any intention of preventing criminals from getting weapons.
Just keep it quiet. The longer it takes for Chuck Schumer to find out, the longer we get to live in peace without his ridiculous mug hogging some news camera to demagogue it!
I recently got to see one of these printers demonstrated at Ohio State, and they are very, VERY cool. As Puppy Blender says, “Faster, please!”
Oh, please. What good old southern boy didn’t make a zip gun in shop class, and know at least 3 ways to blow stuff up using what Mom and Dad had under the sink and in the garage? And get a good @$$-whuppin when Mom and Dad found out? What has become of our youth?
OKMIAACP (OK, maybe I am a crackpot)
@#6, it wasn’t just southern boys. We Yankees didn’t make piddly zip guns, we made 12 gauge cannons with 8 foot barrels, and little rockets we called nut busters. Just in case the South tried to rise again heh heh
And that stupidity didn’t get me an a$$ whuppin, which I so richly deserved, but I do have a couple of souvenir scars when the breech end of one of the “cannons” blew apart. John Browning we were not! The ER doc who stitched me up was suspicious but I gave a story of falling on railroad tracks. If dad woulda found out…!!!
“The shot heard ’round the water cooler”, at TSA.
Can the 3-D printer print out a 20 round mag to go with it? (May as well be worth your while.)
My guess is that it is a ‘one shot’ deal, but it would be stealthy to x-rays and it would work once. You could call them “salad shooters” and stick a case in your carry-on. The nails in the heels of your shoes could work as firing pins. The cartridges WILL need to be coated with invisible paint.
