I should have mentioned, if you post a comment and yet don’t actually comment on the actual topic of the post (IMAO’s newly blazing fast loading speed) and rather merely on the parenthetical about trolls and the baiting thereof, I will consider it a personal affront and attack on my honor.
IMO, the best thing to do to a troll is ignore them, being ignored sucks the wind completely out of their sails.

Trolls, even Ron Paul trolls, bring much needed traffic to IMAO. Plus the trolls are usually right about the North American Union and many other things. Without trolls IMAO’s traffic would slowly fade away until there was nothing left but Frank J., Harvey and spacemonkey talking to each other.

I have the basic DSL setup. Normally when I switch from one page to the next I hop over to Fox news until its done loading, especially when I have posted a comment. Today, I’m finding that I don’t have to do that. Thank you.

Definitely faster. Until today it would always pull up the left sidebar and the main body first and then would take several seconds to shrink over and show the right sidebar. Now it all comes on at the same time and pretty darn fast too.

I liked it better when the comments would come up like pop up windows. But the comments page did seem to load a bit faster. It might be a moot point for me, though; I still use the archaic dial-up connection.

One thing I do appreciate about IMAO’s ads is that they do not include the pop-unders and pop-overs. Those are annoying.

Yes, much better. I always thought this site would be nice if links popped up in a new window. That way the front page won’t have to be reloaded after reading comments on an article. Great job on the site regardless.
I think it’s faster too, and when I first came in the images all loaded (normally I get a permission-denied error). But I still think the best way to cut load time would be to get rid of about 95% of the sidebar crap (not the ads!). There’s two exact copies on my sidebar of Pajamas Media – Donate – Straw poll – Chronicles of Dubya – Podcast… why the doubles? Then there’s the About section (which could be its own page), Blogroll (ditto), Awards (put on About page), Archives (own page), all of which the average reader will probably glance over once then ignore for months on end. At the very least, there’s no reason to put that stuff on individual article pages as long as you can get to it from the main page.
Anyway, I’m not going to tell you how to write your site, but you could probably substantially cut your bandwidth bill if you didn’t serve up all that extra stuff on Every. Single. Page load. I know a lot of blogs do it the same way you do now, and maybe there’s a reason for using this format that I’m not aware of. But seriously, if you check the source code for the average article, something like 1/4 of it is actual content and the rest is duplicated across every page — that can’t be good business.
Please take the above as constructive criticism with the best of intentions — love the site, and obviously I’ll keep reading however you choose to format it.
