Question of the Day

So what do you think Obama’s reelection chances are right now? It will depend a bit on who the GOP candidate is, but I’d like to think Obama’s chances are already pretty dim. It’s well established he’s a useless idiot, so hopefully come election time people will want someone who it’s possible isn’t an useless idiot. Still, lots of people think if the economy improves some he’ll get reelection easy because Obama is all likable and stuff.

What do you think?

  1. I agree with the person above me, unfortunately. Right now his chances are pretty good. The Left still has the edge on tricks to get the Right to turn against and alienate its own supporters, i.e., “divide and conquer”. Also, a lot of those long-time GOP politicians are too used to the corrupt ambiance of “government as usual” and can’t be relied on.

So, yeah–right now his chances are better than average, and that’s just sad. With all the new Republican and new conservative Independents, this administration should be thoroughly cowed, but they’re still bluffing and it’s working. Wake up, people.

  2. His reelection hinges on the economy. I don’t think that he will do anything to improve things, but there is a good chance that the economy will improve no matter how hard he tries to stop it.

  3. unless the media starts portraying politics in a Fair and Balanced matter…….probably “good”. The right doesn’t yet have a good prospect which is a good thing. The media will downplay whoever comes forth with intentions of running. Watch the Tucson incident and Sarah Palin. She was wrong no matter what. It was her fault. When she refudiated all the left could do was then refocus on “blood libel” and people all fell for it. Media is very powerful.
Conservatives and everyone on the right must stop giving in to Left’s attacks like this. We need anyone in the media, reporters/pundits to be a leader in and of themselves. Stop defending the Lefts attacks.
When they attack, don’t get involved, otherwise we’ll always be on the defense unable to lead anything including debates about the real issues.
I think Obamas reelection is more about how any on the right respond to such attacks. Obama has not become a leader of this great nation because he arose from defending attacks on the right. He came in power from being a sharp edge attacking what he believed to be the problem.

  4. He’s got a very good chance due to the Grand Old Party’s grand incompetence.

Also, pundits agree that the Republicans shouldn’t nominate a conservative because they prefer spending time talking about the unelectability of all conservatives.

  5. Whatever happens, I fear I will be entirely dismayed by the GOP candidate and, as always, bitterly annoyed by the asinine primary system in place. I’m from Pennsylvania. I don’t want my candidate chosen by Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and above all others, the media.

  6. But, Frank, wasn’t it well-established before the election that Obama was a useless idiot?

I’m thinking the idiot factor won’t make a difference. Except that certain people like to vote for their own kind. You know: idiots vote for idiots.

  7. Unfortunately the election is his to lose. Once the republican candidates come forward the liberal press will set out to destroy them. If you think the liberal bias is bad now, just wait until they think their guy could be a one term president. The far left may be disappointed he didn’t go far enough but there is no way they could stomach a republican. So it will come down to how many people Obama and the left can fool. Amazingly, the answer is still quite a lot.

  8. If the election were today, Onoes would have no chance of being re-elected unless the Republican candidate were a bumbling baby-rapist, because the economy sucks, and the american voters almost always change the president when the economy sucks.

But the election is at least six fiscal quarters from now, and the economy will likely change. I’d have to guess that the economy will improve, since:
    1) it can’t get much worse, and
    2) republicans control the house, and can stop or severely limit the damage Onoes and the commie leftists can do

If things improve (or even stop sucking as much) by next fall, Onoes can steal the credit for it, even if the improvement is due to him and the left being successfully stopped. If he does, he’ll have half a chance at re-election, but only if he can fool the independents again. I think its unlikely. Remember the old saying,”It’s better to be thought a moron, than to open your mouth and prove it”? Well, he just can’t stay away trom that prime-time address. Also, he won the first tome because he talked a good game and had no record to the contrary. He has a record now, and its pretty lame.

I hope that the republicans will do what needs to be done and take full measures (not half-assed, rino, moderate, across-the-aisle, compromised measures) to check spending and spur confidence in our economy. Measures that may take more than 2 years to show results, but will be long lasting. They can keep Obama from getting the credit, win the white house and senate, and fast track us out of our economic hole so that the rest of the world can get back to hating us.

  9. I believe that thee Obama will win in a major freaking landslide because he is the perfect divine punishment for an apostate idolatrous money worshiping post christian nation.

I also believe the Tea party will fail because “it” approaches issues ideologically and then tries to find (or just makes up) Biblical support for what their Pagan ideology teaches. You can’t lie about what the Bible teaches and expect not to be judged!

Lots of the Tea People rely on their claims on being Christians but their actions and their associations (with Glenn Beck and other Pagans) prove otherwise. Libertarianism is not a Christian religion! And saying that you are a little ‘l’ Libertarian is just like saying you are a little ‘n’ Nambla member!

And now the real damning stuff!!
When the head “Holy Prophet” of the Tea Party (a polytheist who thinks god is married and comes from another planet and that his son Satan was born of a woman and that the Christ we know is a false Christ…) when he is farther away from Christianity than Muslims and Osama bin Laden (a monotheist) is, then we have a very very serious problem.

If the Libertarian Tea People were to win in 2012 they would be a even bigger punishment on America than thee Obama (who like muslims) is closer to being a real Christian than many of the Tea Pagans and their leaders.

What part of “Do not be bound together or unequally yoked with unbelievers.” THE HOLY BIBLE!! do you not understand?

So I say Obama wins by at least 40 states because Christians will be forced to stay home.

  10. Depends on voter mentality, unfortunately. I don’t see the economy being better because of his going on the attack against the oil/natural gas companies. Unless that’s just posturing, he’ll have us paying $4, $5, or evein $6 a gallon for gas. That should pretty much do in the economy. He’ll try and deflect that to other countries, but he’s positioned us to be more reliant on foreign oil then we’ve been. So, it’s still going to get pinned on him.

The problem we’ll have in 2012 will be the same problem we always have. We’ll get the worst possible candidate becuase the early primaries have a lot of open primarires that the liberals can just flood with voters to choose who they want to run against. Add that to the fact that the idiots in the Republican party still insist on useless debates run by liberals where the questions asked are geared toward what the candidates emotions are, or what his/her feelings are, then they’ve once again rigged the election. If question can be asked about problems and the possible solutions, then a guy like Herman Cain might slip through. That’d be our best chance though.

  11. His chances are about 80% – most people don’t pay much attention and have the memories of gnats. Obama is now trying to look centrist and people will see him that way because they are sheep.

  12. Here’s my answer of the day: It will depend heavily, as Marko points out, on Republican propensity to pick a clod. There are several clods in the bunch right now — I needn’t list them — so our chances may not be good.

On the other hand, a good candidate running on a fiscal responsibility platform, a decent campaign, and an economy that hasn’t drastically improved, and we should be able to win the future.

  13. You have to remember that marxism, democratism, and leftism are mental disorders resulting in retardation and cluelessness. Therefore, the same stupid rancid morons that voted for that one the first time will likely do it again. However, if the SFBs in the republican party get it together and quit letting the eastern bloc choose the candidate for them, then perhaps us Real Americans will not stay home, and then the turdbucket currently defiling the White House loses 49 – 51. even a POS like mccain managed 46%, so any decent candidate beats the marxists.

@carpenter, if it were not for the TEA people, you sheeple would be electing the same old feces and be facing a worse crisis that the scumbag marxists and dingy harry has us in. While not perfect, the TEA people are a damn site better than europeans you leftists seem to emulate.

I don’t think I have ever heard a TEA person cite a biblical reference, a constitutional reference, yes, but the two are tied very closely together, despite what the pos democrat atheists say.

  14. The question of the day is not weather that one will be re-elected, he just started campaigning (instead of doing his job) for 2012. The question is weather or not the gop will put a badger in his room to see if he can wrestle it.

  15. It’s well established he’s a useless idiot

Basil’s point is well-taken. The American electorate, like all other electorates, has rather a history of electing useless idiots (Jimmy Carter is perhaps the best example, but far from the only one; think of Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, and Warren Harding, inter alia.

Also, I don’t see any Republican who’s going to be attractive to both conservatives and swing voters.

  16. A cautionary tale of the short term memory loss of the US voter: George H.W. Bush rated an 89% (!) approval rating after the first invasion of Iraq in 1991. A scant 15 months later he received the lowest approval rating of 29% as he stumbled through a poor presidential election season. He lost the election to Clinton.

We are almost the exact same distance to the election of 2012 as GHWBush was to the election of 1992 when he was so venerated. The voting public remembers very little from early years, and only seems to care about what has happened in the last few weeks. If the economy does somewhat recover, look for Obama to take full credit, ignore the deficits and tin-ear governing of his first two years, and eloquently spin himself to reelection.

That’s how I see it, anyway.

  17. Unemployment 7=8% at best that and gas prices will sink him. 5-8$ a gallon in 2012. After he spent his first two years saying he was going to improve it but doing all kinds of macro and micro things (the media refused to report) to shrink instead of expanding American production and the dollar sinking it is too late now for him to turn oil around in time for 2012.

Everything that caused 150$ oil he has magnified if the world economy recovers even a little it will shoot past that fast.

Lets hope he does not think to secretly dump oil from the petroleum reserve the months before the election to drop gas significantly. Or begin offering government ration cards to the poor. (food stampers vote Dem by massive margins) Either of those could get him elected in spite of high oil.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2011/01/28/oil-rigs-and-jobs-already-moving-out-of-gulf/

  18. Depends. If he runs against Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman he’s toast…that is unless he replaces Biden with Justin Bieber, then all bets are off!!!

C’mon, people! The last election showed that the American people have seen through this idiot, left-wing socialist communist nit-wit and want no more to do with him or his policies! And the economy aint’ going to improve, as a matter of fact it’s going to get much much worse. The American dollar will cease to be the Currency of Reserve to the rest of the world. What does that mean, it means that they will stop buying our crappy dollar because they know about our debt and the fact that we are printing money like there is no tomorrow to cover it! When this happens, and it has already started watch for inflation to take off, a massive sell-off on wall street and huge unemployment.

Then we will see what Mr. Fancy Pants has to say about Winning The Future or as Palin said W.T.F.!!!

I also agree about Romney and his fake Christianity. If you don’t believe that Jesus Christ is God and the Creator of the Universe, you ain’t a Christian!

  19. Given the events in Egypt today, Tunisia, and Allah knows where else, I’d say there is no chance of O-bah-muhh being re-elected. It will take a strong, courageous leader to bring America back from the Malaise. The Effete Socialist Barack Hussein O-bah-muhh is toast.

  20. Hinges on the economee. And, whether the average citizen-dolt buys in to 10% unemployment as the new norm.

Who ever the GOP nominates will be crucified in the MSM and to push the analogy will say to the average citizen-dolt. “I AM well pleased with my Son. Listen to Him.” Transfiguration analogy for you folks free of charge. Prolly only Carpenter will get that… (What IS that guy smokin’?)

    Pailn and/or Bachman never happen.

    Obama in a land slide…

  21. @ ussjimmycarter wrote:
“…I also agree about Romney and his fake Christianity. If you don’t believe that Jesus Christ is God and the Creator of the Universe, you ain’t a Christian!”

And Glenn Beck, who is the defacto leader of the RightWing today, has been preaching his demon influenced Pagan – Universalist – Mormonistic – pray to a Buddha or a Tree, anything is God, Polythiestic, we can all be Gods religion, combined with bits and pieces of things that sound like they are Christian.

Glenn is the DOOM of the 2012 election. There is NO way we can vote for anything that he supports. I mean Beck might as well be Anton Levay (who also was a Libertarian) or Aleister Crowley because his preaching is straight out of hell.

FOX News never should have hired him! There were lots of good Christians they could have hired but they went with a Charismatic Pagan Prophet and then allowed him to spread his false religion.

I will vote for a Republican if given the chance! I’d vote for a Jeb Bush. I’d vote for a Christian. But I don’t see that happening. Sarah Palin and all the rest are openly in League with a Glenn Beck. I won’t sell my Soul for lower taxes. Forever is a longtime and I hate heat!

  22. Time for Barack to step aside for Michelle. See Barack isn’t a real socialist. He’s more of a Barackist or perhaps an Obamist. For pure socialism to take hold, Michelle is going to have to take over and Barry can go shoot hoops with Charles Barkley. Then everybody gets what they want …. yeah then everything will be “single payer” and government will help us by making all our decisions for us. It’ll be good times.

  23. @Jimmy/Carpenter Way to be decent to those of us LDS in the same trenches with you.

Romney is a NE republican. I think most people get that culturally that they lean to big government and socially wishy washy. Not like the marxists just another blue blood Bush republican. I really don’t think I would vote for him… against 2012 Obama is a tougher dilemma. But that is why I am voting in the primaries this year so hopefully I wont have to make choice.

    humrous side note-
If the USS titanic is going to sink anyway then how about we make 2012 Palin/Bachman vs Hillary/Michelle Obama cage match to the death… winner take all.

  24. In addition to The economy, gas and oil cost etc. I have heard mentioned that ocrap may make an exec order on gun control in the next couple of weeks because of Tuscon. If this happens he may have a hard time getting reelected.

  25. Burma,

Clod isn’t good enough. I’m thinking stupid git is a more descriptive phrase.

By the way, I recently purchased a copy of A Better War, an excellent book by Lewis Sorley. You were correct in speaking highly of General Abrams.

  26. I wondered what Carpenter’s deal was.
    Now I see he’s a Mormanophobe.
Glenn Beck is a Mormon, therefore Evil, and therefore anyone and anything he’s associated with or ever had a cordial conversation with (Fox news, TEA party, libertarianism, Sarah Palin, etc) is also Evil.
I’ve listened to Glenn Beck on the radio, attended TEA parties, watched Fox news and bought Sarah Palin’s book, so I guess that makes me Evil too.
How do you feel about Roman Catholics? Jews?
It’s a good thing Carpenter doesn’t have the final word on who gets into Heaven – it’d be a mighty lonely place.

    Matthew 7:1-2
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will measured to you.”

  27. ussjimmy I am wounded, bleeding at the keyboard. We probably should never comment on the same posts again. You might get Mormon coodies.

Carpenters issue is that he never does any real research before he spews his vile, vitriolic lies, misconceptions and misstatements. The ignorance of his statements is almost mind boggling. Makes one not take any of his comments seriously.

I was going to defend myself and my religion but I don’t have to. We Mormons “claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.”

Apparently Carpenter doesn’t believe in religious freedom, at least for anyone he’s decided don’t believe in what he thinks is right.
The fact that Mormons believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and the architect of man’s salvation is simply not important to him.

Obviously he knows very little about Jesus Christ.

Thank you 4 of 7. You are an example of what a Christian should be. I’m going to try to be more like you. I’ll try but I can’t promise anything.

  28. Just to make it perfectly clear I was referring to Glenn Beck’s PAGANISM and not specifically Mormonism. Beck, like Oprah, has chosen to make a STEW out of various pagan religions, then blend in a bit of Christianity, and just like the Oprah he has created his own Religion!

There is NOTHING Christian in Glenn Beck. He is a Religion!!

Mormons should be happy that Beck isn’t actually one of them. The man is a total fraud! Basically he has destroyed any chance the Republicans had of beating Obama because he has made it impossible for many Christians to vote in the next election! A 1% loss of votes is a total disaster. We will see a 5+ % drop because of the PaulBot wierdos alone. They are not Republicans and they do not belong in the Republican Party.

Thanks to Beck and the deranged PaulBot Tea Pagans Obama will win in 2012. If they aren’t gone by 2016 I will probably never vote again.

Sorry if I offended anyone. I just refuse to sell my soul to satan for lower taxes.

  29. He was a useless idiot three years ago and got elected. What’s changed?

There’s a huge number of people out there who know he’s a useless idiot, but could never bring themselves to vote for anybody except a registered Democrat. Watch his numbers go up as the election gets closer, and as the Reublican front runners emerge for the press to belittle with lies.

In otherwords, it may turn out to be closer than it should be.

  30. My soul? Its not for sale.

Let me put this another way so you can understand it.
If Fox News hired a NAMBLA member what would you think?

Would you watch his show if he didn’t “actively advocate sex” between grown men and young boys? And what if he called himself a Christian Conservative and called out the so-called RINO’s on spending? Would you believe him? Would you watch Joe NAMBLA’s show?

    Of course not!
No one in their right mind would believe someone from the North American Man-Boy Love Association even if he portrayed himself as a Conservative or a Christian!

But what Glenn Beck is doing is even worse than being a NAMBLA member. He is actively dooming people to HELL and they are lining up in droves to be damned for all eternity. He is preaching his pagan religion from his pulpit at Fox News. Glenn Beck is selling the RightWing down the River Styx and he is making MILLIONS and millions and millions of dollars doing it.

How can you just sit there while he destroys what little chances the Republicans have at getting rid of the worst president in history…. unless thats what you want. Do you want Beck to destroy the Republicans?

Libertarians don’t belong in the Republican Party! They aren’t Republicans. They are the REAL RINOS

  31. (from splinter-mans #12 comment above)
“So I say Obama wins by at least 40 states because Christians will be forced to stay home.”

    Sorry, dude.
There just aren’t enough ‘Christians’ as twisted with hate and paranoia as you in this whole country to affect a campaign for dog catcher, let alone president.
That being the case, maybe you should just handle snakes or or protest at soldier’s funerals or whatever it is you do to relax on election day, and leave the selection of the next leader of the free world to the rational, OK?
Maybe you’re not a Mormonophobe, maybe you’re just a slightly more clever than usual troll trying to foment a quarrel among friends.
I intend to religiously ignore your comments from now on – they’re not worth the eyestrain.

    Seanmahair, Carolyn, you’re welcome.

  33. Obama, 0 percent. The three states that will usually vote that way are ca, ny, and my favorite, illinois. What do you think their economies will look like in 2 years? Plus, if frank runs he will win and we can finally stop hearing about his robots and dinosaurs with rocket launchers and start seeing them.

  34. How very true Marko. With all the other evils and evil doers in the world Beck is the architect of our DOOM. Priorities, priorities. I’ve often said that we on the right are never going to be able to get into leadership positions and more importantly stay there if we can’t find some common ground especially on the topic of religion/or the lack there of. True Christians, as 4 of 7 mentioned try not to judge because they know the consequences of their judgements. If we can’t all “hang together, we will surely hang separately” to paraphrase Benjamin Franklin.

Everybody gets to chose, believe don’t believe. What is necessary is that we ALL follow a common rule of civil behavior. This doesn’t mean we can’t call a moron, a bigot, a racist, a sexist what they are, “by there fruits shall ye know them”, while a biblical quote is appropriate in all facets of human interaction. Nor does it mean we can’t have fun at the expense of those who invite ridicule (not that that would apply to anyone here – wink, wink, nudge, nudge say no more, say no more). We just need to remember where to draw that line.

Carolyn you are the sweetest thing. Thanks a bunch for your support.

  35. It’s so sweet to see such tolerance and love here at IMAO. But when Romney is your nominee (and he will be because it is rigged by the party “bigs”), see how you feel then. He is a RINO! He was for abortion before he was against it. Romney Care was pre-Obama Care! He is big government! He will talk like a Conservative because he has to, but he will govern like a RINO! As for his religion. Is it important that we Christians find it false? I don’t know. I am just offended by the claim of the LDS to be a Christian Church, when they reject the pure Gospel of Christ and turn Christ into a new Law Giver! Big F Problem! We are saved by Grace apart from works lest any man boast! The thief on the cross is the classic example. All he did was “believe” and his sins were forgiven him.

  36. It all breaks down to demographics. There are certain demographics that will turn out in record numbers to vote for the guy. All we can do is try to get our own record turn out, and look for weak links in his support. Blacks who realize they are not better off, gays who realize that they don’t have to be socialist just because they like men, feminist who think that not only can women do the same jobs as men, but it would kind of be nice if more of them had the chance to start small businesses. The liberals get many of us to build walls against these people joining us for teh stupidest of reasons. Romney may believe in Christ, but it isn’t the same thing as “real Christians,” we disagree with gay marriage, but we do a poor job of explaining why without sounding like we just hate gay people. Poor blacks know that we want to cut back on social programs, but we haven’t explained it is so that they can start their own businesses, and stop being poor blacks, and become self made ones instead. The media doesn’t help, as they pick and choose how they will quote us.

  37. Well, I was gonna blast Carpenter long before it was fashionable but held back because his stuff is boring. But lemme blast for a different reason than religion:

Libertarians don’t belong in the Republican Party!

That’s just nonsense. Most Republicans are “libertarian” at heart, as are most “classical democrats.” I don’t think you’re convincing many here, Mr. Carpenter, but you’re free to try. FYI, I’m skipping over your comments now.

  38. I think Obama is daring the GOP to take the lead on entitlement reform, so that he can demonize us for doing so. If the GOP makes meaningful budget cuts, reforms entitlements, and balances the budget, he and the Democrats will demagogue us as killing granny. The question is, will the voters take their side, or ours? Honestly can’t say. But it’s no reason not to do it.

  39. Last time I swear, last stupid time. (and just for your edification the name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I’m sure we don’t follow the same Jesus Christ you do. Right? Must be some other evil Jesus I guess)

//I am just offended by the claim of the LDS to be a Christian Church, when they reject the pure Gospel of Christ and turn Christ into a new Law Giver! Big F Problem! We are saved by Grace apart from works lest any man boast! The thief on the cross is the classic example. All he did was “believe” and his sins were forgiven him.//

I’m sorry we offend you. I’m sorry you think somehow you’re going to get a pass on all the stupid, wrong, hurtful things you do in this life just because you say “I believe” . I’m sorry you think Jesus Christ isn’t a “law giver” but even more than that I’m sorry that in the same sentence talking about “Grace, Christ and the thief on the cross you had to say “Big F Problem”. Maybe you were referring to a big failed problem or big funny problem, or a big fabulous problem.

I don’t give a healthy hooha whether Romney is the nominee or not. I actually have integrity so I vote for the person who is the most qualified, contrary to those who vote for the person who is going to spend the most money on them.

Here’s a suggestion. Find an active practicing Mormon and talk to them. Actually listen to what they believe and give them the respect you expect us to give to those who’s religious practices strike us as hypocritical. That’s a big f (facetious)problem.

  40. Sooo… as someone who, if forced to pick a ‘box’ to check politically, would choose libertarian, do I not belong here? IMAO, I think I do. Am I a RINO? That would be a no. I’m not a republican at all. I’m a conservative, and being conservative doesn’t mean you have to be religious. If someone is so hardcore republican that he/she gets caught up in certain issues come primary time such as abortion and gay marriage, that’s fine. Those are important social issues. However, I think you fail to see the forest through the trees. Do I like abortion? No; I think it’s abhorrent at best. I also happen to think so much is wrong right now that focusing on abortion, gay marriage, and religion over cutting spending, overhauling Obamacare, and reforming Medicare/SS/Medicaid is like trying to bail out the Titanic without first welding the holes in the hull. Lately, repubs seem to get so caught up in these ‘toe the line’ issues that I just can’t be a part of that political party.

I’m not LDS, but I think from now on I should be CarolyntheManiacalMormonRINOouttodestroyUSSJimmyCarterandCarpenter’sChristianwayoflife. Is that too long?

I’m so curious to know if USSJimmy and Carpenter would like to share what branch of Christianity they ‘practice’.

  41. Harry Reid is a ‘Mormon’, so obviously there is a wide disparity between Sen. Harry Reid Mormonism, and Sen. Mike Lee Mormonism, based on their politics.

I’ve been a registered Libertarian in NH, back when Ron Paul ran as Libertarian Presidential Candidate (1988), grew out of it when it became apparent that it was a haven for the godless, the legalize drugs crowd, the keep the Gov’t. out of my womb feminazis, the anarchists, the libertines, and Mos Eisley types. So it’s back to the Republicans, for now, until something better comes along, or Jesus comes back to set things straight. 😉

  42. The “mainstream” media + Hollywood + television + college professors & high school teachers + unions + every dishonest, scheming left wing political hack vs. a Republican party without a plan, still clinging to their RINO ways, led by John Boehner? Ummm…Obama’s chances are pretty good.

  43. #55 – 4of7: Thanks. I’ve encountered many conservatives that feel I’m not a true conservative due to my lack of belief in God. I don’t see how my belief in the divine matters at all. I still embrace Judeo-Christian values. Murder is evil, theft is wrong, do unto others is common sense. I always thought that conservatism was about personal responsibility.

  44. #57 – Johnny45, You’re welcome.
“I always thought that conservatism was about personal responsibility.”
    True.
(Just don’t get me started on that whole Darwinism vs Creationism thing!) 😉

  45. First, I have the book of Mormon…and I have read it! Second, any religion that doesn’t understand the difference between the doctrines of Law and Gospel are false. In the Law we are crushed by God. We are told that we are poor miserable sinners, lost with no hope. If you have violated one condition of the Law you have violated all of the law and your fate is death, the Christian faith then points the sinner to Calvary and freely offers Christ’s sacrifice on the cross as payment for my sins. I can do nothing to earn it. I don’t deserve it. It is a gift that I cannot as a sinful man work for on my own. All other religions teach that we must work out our salvation. Christianity teaches that “It is finished”! Even in Genesis we read that “He (Christ) shall crush the head of the serpent (Satan), which he has already done!

Conservatism in my mind is smaller government and letting people make their own decisions in life. We do not need a nanny state to tell us what to eat, what to drive, what to say and not say, etc. We are free people!

  46. With the aging of the baby boomers, I have to think they are becoming a bit more conservative. Combine that with the majority of states with pub governors, the bloom off of Obama’s rose, and I think Obama has an uphill battle in 2012.
Only a greatly improving economy or a pub dunderhead (fairly likely) will give him a better than avg chance.

If the dollar collapses and commodity prices skyrocket, being in power will not be popular. Or safe.

  47. The 1920s began with a Democrat president being supplanted by a Republican, followed by a decade of capitalistic prosperity and cultural advancement.

The 1950s began with a Democrat president being supplanted by a Republican, followed by a decade of capitalistic prosperity and cultural advancement.

The 1980s began with a Democrat president being supplanted by a Republican, followed by a decade of capitalistic prosperity and cultural advancement. (Screw you, I like hair metal and John Hughes.)

    It’s the 2010s. It’s time again.

  48. Obama is toast in 2012. Although it’s too far out into the future for the GOP nominee, anybody can see what’s going to happen to the economy 2 years out. Is it going to go back to pre-2006 levels?

    Hell no.

With Obama’s abject stupidity in regards to all things economic and his own idiotic policies that beg for higher taxes, higher spending and higher gasoline prices…. it’s easy to predict that Economics will drive the winner to the Oval Office. The current specter of Middle East unrest will not shed a positive light upon Obama, either.

You don’t need to drive a Ferrari to beat Obama’s unicycle in that race. Let’s pray that we get a true conservative in the race for Prez. Romney and Gingrinch, please take a seat. We don’t need your ‘help’.

  49. I’d put it an 95% or better chance of re-election for the won.

getting tossed out is only going to happen if things get much worse.
Something like runaway inflation and gas shortages. Otherwise he’s in. It might seem crazy but a lot of people kinda like the guy.

  50. I’m glad to see the left believes Glen Beck controls the Right Wing of the Republican party.

Wait until Mr. Carpenter finally realizes that IMAO actually controls the Right Wing of the Republican party…
