How Do We End Liberals’ Disconnect From Everyone Else?

So liberals are in full noise mode, but a new Gallup poll says that the majority see right through it and believes liberals are bringing up conservative rhetoric out of political opportunism. In addition, 72% say that more gun control wouldn’t have helped.

It really seems that since 2008, liberals have lost ability to convince the American people of anything. Of course, the left aren’t really aware of that because they tend to hang out with each other and see how convincing their arguments are to other liberals and thinks that means anything to the American people at large. And nothing — not even huge election losses — has woken them from their disconnect with normal people.

Just look at Bill Maher uncomfortable appearance on the tonight show. He’s so ignorant about the American people he’s now lashing out hatefully out of delusional fear. Apparently, he really thinks the hundred million conservatives out there are all about to kill him or something. They didn’t commit political violence last year or the year before that or the year before that, but any day now they’re coming for him! He’s sure of it! The completely unrelated violence in Tuscon only reminds him how imminent violent conservatives are. And they must be awful and violent because otherwise why would he hate them so much?

I’m not sure how you snap people out of that when they’re so entrenched in their own ignorance and filled with so much anger at their delusions of what other people are like. I guess we need some sort of tolerance program for liberals to expose them to more conservatives and learn not to be so hateful of them. Or we could say, “Shut up, hippie!” and punch them in the face. That’s kind of what the last election was, though, and that obviously didn’t get through to them.

Non-Existent Right Wing T-shirts

Inspired by this comment at Legal Insurrection.

Let’s not also forget that political violence is not merely tolerated on the left, but actually celebrated. No one on the right is going to show up at a Tea Party rally in an Eric Rudolph T-shirt. There are no right-wing collegians with posters of Tim McVeigh on their walls. But mass murderers like Che Guevara and Mao Tse-Tung and cop-killers like Mumia Abu Jamal are celebrated as heroes on the left; and their images adorn T-shirts, posters, and flags at most any progressive gathering.

Ok, so if the Tea Party were just the right-wing version of liberals, what T-shirts would you see at their rallies? I speculate thusly:

* Sirhan Sirhan

* Lee Harvey Oswald

* Brain tumor (Ted Kennedy)

* Dan White (killed openly-gay liberal politician Harvey Milk)

* The Rumsfeld Strangler

* Snow-covered pine tree (Michael Kennedy)

* Jeffrey Dahmer (he mostly killed & ate gays)

* Piper Saratoga (JFK Jr.)

* Dan Rostenkowski’s checkbook

and of course, lots of Monica berets and Blago wigs.

Anything else?

UPDATE: I forgot Mario Teran. Then again, he really DOES have a T-shirt.

Blood libel is the new Holocaust!

So what term would the left prefer for how they’re using lies to try and connect their political opponents to murder? They are admitting to that, right? They just don’t like the phrase used.

Targets on political maps and using the term blood libel is only remarkable and outrage worthy to the left when Palin does it.

We keep talking about facts and evidence, and the facts and evidence are that the left are extremely disingenuous with their outrage.

So does the left have genuine outrage left or is that reserved only for when it’s politically useful?

I’m glad horrific murder gives us all an opportunity to critique Sarah Palin’s language.

If you’re tired of hearing about Palin, stop bringing her up. Good advice for the left next time something horrific happens.

Saw the clip of Bill Maher bombing on Leno last night. What a hateful, delusional person. Does no one get the irony of talking about tone while reducing political opponents to evil caricatures? And again, he talks about how all those armed conservatives are going to one day – ONE DAY – start being violent. It’s Maher’s faith.

I can’t believe how Palin inserted herself into the story by being irrationally hated by the left.

Okay, I think I’m already worn out on politics for this year. Who wants to talk about dinosaurs and space lasers?

FYI, a space laser is like a regular laser but better because it’s in space.

And why haven’t we resurrected dinosaurs by now? It’s very easy; even people in Hollywood figured it out.

I don’t think many of you appreciate the complexities of putting dinosaurs in space along with the lasers.

Is blood libel why our doctor told us to keep our baby away from Jews for the first six months?

To be fair, some of it was blood slander.

It’s starting to seem like too much exposure to politics will turn anyone into a sociopath.

72% saying gun control wouldn’t have helped is higher than I would have thought, but gun control is definitely a non-starter now. By all indications, the gun issue is settled and nothing is going to change that.

Technically, it should have been settled back when they made the 2nd Amendment, but oh well.

Got a Twitter follower trying to pin me down on whether I am for or against gun control. I think I’ll keep weaseling.

If you’re new, just know I’m an avowed Communist who wants to ban all guns and see Obama reelected. And I like monkeys.

Who here is just waiting for Obama to weigh in on the rhetoric debate so we can bring up Ayers and Wright again?

Didn’t Columbine happen while the limit on magazine sizes was last in effect? What’s that supposed to do again?

4G

I just want to announce that this blog is now 4G.

What does that mean? It means it’s better.

Better in what ways, you ask? I’ll tell you what ways it’s better in: Many.

So, if you go to any other blogs that are only 3G, remember that IMAO is a whole G better.

Blood Libel

Now, we all know that no matter what Sarah Palin said about the murders in Tuscon, the left had to find something in her statement to squeal about like stuck pigs. What they’ve settled on is the term “blood libel” Sarah Palin used. Now, I assume they are admitting to using lies to try and connect their political opponents to murder, they just don’t like that term for it. So what would they prefer? Murderous lying? Bloody falsehoods? Depraved, ghoulish speech? Creating narratives?

Jim Geraghty has a list of other times people used the term “blood libel” that went by unremarked which is similar to the list I’ve seen of targets placed on political maps that went by unnoticed. But the left act outraged at Sarah Palin, more so than the Tuscon murders as that’s not as politically advantageous for them anymore. You have to start to wonder if some on the left has genuine outrage over anything anymore or is it only ever politics to them. If it hadn’t had popped into their head they could try and link the Tuscon shooting to politics they disagree with, would they even have cared?

The Narrative

The left has their narrative, and no amount of facts and evidence will dissuade them from it. If pressed, they’ll admit the shooting had nothing to do with political rhetoric but they still have can’t help themselves from trying to link the shooting with it as to them it’s a truth that exists outside of evidence — a religious faith. They’ve repeated over and over that the right arguing politics is going to lead to violence and they’ll believe it no matter what.

That’s why so many on the left were so excited by the Giffords shooting. They were convinced here was finally the proof of their religious faith about the right’s “dangerous rhetoric” and they could hardly contain their glee at the tragedy. When the facts came out and they didn’t get the prize they hoped for, they just couldn’t let go of their narrative because to them it’s so true no matter what happens in reality.

And that’s what the left has now — this whole fictional world built up on narratives absent of fact. And they’re really angry that no one outside the left is buying into these fictions anymore. They exist outside of reality and wonder why they can’t connect with people. And the more things turn against them, the more disconnected they get in response.

Random Thoughts

It’s been a while since the left has made an argument on a major issue that was influential to anyone other than other liberals.

This “Verizon iPhone” rumor that’s been going on for years has gotten so big that even Verizon and Apple think it’s true.

Again, I would like to point out pathetic 2011 is that what we’re obsessed over is better phones. Where’s my jetpack with laser cannons?

This 3G/4G stuff – that doesn’t actually mean anything, right?

So do I need to update my Bush-centric universe model of the liberal mind with the addition of Sarah Palin?

It’s not accurate to say the left are ghouls. Going by The Walking Dead’s ratings, ghouls are actually popular.

While we’re using Tuscon to talk about unrelated things like political rhetoric, let’s also use it as a reminder that kids should floss.

Apparently conservatives are just like violent people from the past… except for the violence.

But know what conservatives love more than violence? Hugs!

Easier to understand left clinging to the political rhetoric narrative if you think of it as religious faith; it exists absent evidence.

lolbama! Part 55

Wow! LOTS of good entries this week. Had to make some tough cuts to get it down to 15. If you didn’t make it this week, you’re in good company.

Except you guys submitting Stuart Smalley captions. You guys all suck! A pox on the lot of you!

This week, That One. Next week, terrorists. Submit for either at lolterizt@gmail.com

Meanwhile, pass ’em around, spread the love, and if you make your own, don’t be shy about dropping a link to your pics in the comments. The more, the merrier.

NOTE TO READERS: Hovering your mouse over the picture activates closed captioning for the l33t-speak/txtmsg impaired.

This week’s uncaptioned picture for you to play with:

Yeah, this ain’t a gimme like last week’s, but I have faith in your creative abilities.

PRODUCTION NOTES:
#1: When creating lolbama! pictures, please caption with either black or white text, as colors like red and yellow tend to blur badly when I compress the images.

#2: Standard image size for these posts is 350px wide by whatever high. If you can have your images 350px wide before you caption them, I won’t end up shrinking your captions into illegibility when I re-size the images.

MAKE YOUR OWN: The free lolbuilder from I Can Has Cheezburger.

STYLE NOTE: Short captions are usually better. Your goal is 10 words or less, with humor value tending to increase exponentially as the number of words approaches 1.

Send your submissions to lolterizt@gmail.com and – if they aren’t obscene (IMAO is a PG-13 site) and don’t suck too terribly bad – I’ll post them for you. Remember to include your name (and blog URL, if applicable) so I know who to thank.

The Future Will Be Now Soon

It’s 2011, and here is finally the sort of headline I expected to see in this year: “Laser cannons to defend ships from pirates”.

Of course, I expected it would be space pirates. And the lasers would incinerate them and not just blind them. And dinosaurs would fire the lasers. Still, it’s a start. I hope we see much more innovations in the future like this.

“This local 7-11 has a great new way to stop robberies: MISSILES FIRED FROM SPACE!”

“As a new weapon against drug dealers, police have deployed KATANA WIELDING ROBOTS!”

“This small Oklahoma town has an unusual person run their daycare: A NUCLEAR POWERED CYBORG!”

Let’s get working on more things like this. After all, it is THE FUTURE!

Not Raising Taxes Is Like Slavery

Here’s a quote Ramesh Ponnuru posted without comment that I will comment on:

“[T]wo ideological factors caused most Southern whites, including those who were not slave-owners, to defend slavery. First, Americans are wondrous optimists, looking to the upper class and expecting to join it someday. In 1860, many subsistence farmers aspired to become large slave-owners. So poor white Southerners supported slavery then, just as many low-income people support the extension of George W. Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy now.”

I like to think I’m an understanding person, but I never for the life of me understood the left’s complete and utter freakout over the rich not getting their taxes raised. For the right, it was a pretty simple thing as we thought that was what’s best for the economy and we hold no animosity towards rich people and know we don’t get a special prize if they suffer, but for the left… I dunno. Maybe it’s just the concept that people like to keep money in the private sector is a bit like a rejection of everything the left stands for. Deep down the left know their time is over and everyone is disgusted by them — just like slave-owners knew near the end — but they can’t consciously admit it so they lash out. Well, whenever they reach that realization, slave-owners will keep a seat warm for the left in the dustbin of history.

No Opportunity for the Left

Despite even liberals having to admit there is no evidence the Tuscon shooter was influenced by the right, they’re still hoping to capitalize on the event because they’re ghouls and have nothing better going on. Liberals have been starving for a while, and since they finally smell a little blood in the water, they’re in a complete frenzy. Also, they have it in their head that Bill Clinton recovered after 1994 because of the Oklahoma City bombing, so that means this shooting is Obama’s awesome opportunity!

Here’s a little bit of wisdom that needs to get repeated more often: History never repeats itself. Ever. I don’t know who came up with the expression to opposite effect, but it’s moronic. Or maybe I should say, “A watched history never repeats.” For one thing, the first time something happens, you don’t have people everywhere saying, “This is just like that other time, so here is what will probably happen…” And that’s the big difference: Expectations. What happens most of the time is people look back in history for results they want and try to force current events to fit the past. So what was organic and unpredictable the first time is now awkward and forced. For people who call themselves “progressives”, their heads are stuck in the past quite a lot. It’s like how liberals try to see every conflict like the civil rights battle because they feel that’s something they clearly won and want to repeat, but all it demonstrates is they never really understood what happened there.

So now liberals see a big tragedy as a political opportunity thinking of how in the past things vaguely similar led to political gains… except everyone now sees that’s what they’re doing and they’re exposed as ghoulish. that the left even failed to convince a majority of Democrats that heated rhetoric is to blame for the tragedy. So once again the left just keeps failing in big ways because of their disconnect from the general public; there’s just too much information out there now for their silly narratives to take hold.

Random Thoughts

The frustrating thing about a lone crazy person is that in the end there is no one to really blame except the lone crazy person.

Know what caused the collapse of the Roman Empire? Talk radio.

It’s the allowing of heated rhetoric in America that protects us from political violence.

It is a little disturbing how Sarah Palin names caribou after liberal politicians just before she shoots them.

Shouldn’t evil Dick Cheney get some blame? He taught us it’s okay to shoot people.

There is no problem with heated political rhetoric as long as we all follow proper heating instructions.

I always assumed the Dupnik stupidity is a hope to find a scapegoat other than himself.

There are tens of millions of armed, angry conservatives. If the left were right about us, wouldn’t they all be dead?

What’s with shaving your head and being crazy? Maybe hair help keeps brain at right temperature for sanity.

At least the left and right will all be able to unite to despise Fred Phelps.

Self-Realization

So anyone else disturbed by the fact that the left keeps finding messages to kill in basic political rhetoric? This is like their talk about “racist dog whistles” where they claim this is stuff they’re afraid others will read into speech, yet they’re the only ones whoever see these hidden messages to be racist and to kill. Maybe eventually liberals will have some realization like at the end of The Sixth Sense where they look back at all the evidence and finally come to the truth that they’ve been the violent, racists all along and have just been projecting all their views onto others. Not holding my breath on liberals becoming self-aware before SkyNet does, but it could happen.
