Why don’t we raise the minimum wage to say, 60 million dollars an hour? If raising it really helps so many people, then why not help everybody? Who do you know that makes more than 60 million an hour?
Then we could all be millionaires. Assuming we have a job and could keep it for more than a minute.
That would totally end poverty for everyone with a job. And it would be a great incentive for people who don’t work to get hired. The dollar menu at McDonald’s would probably change to the 20 grand menu. Chump change for all of us millionaires, don’t ya think? It’s win-win.
I think I’d retire after about 10 minutes though, I’m not greedy. OK, maybe 20 minutes.

What about our Military….would they get a pay increase or COLA to meet &/or offset that much of an increase?? Probably not — we’d still be sitting here, applying for food stamps while my soldier is making enough for us to remain just below the poverty level while dodging gunfire….

The 20-grand menu would make McDonald’s sound positively upscale. They could be the official sponsor of this movement. Nah…They’d probably start asking, “Would you like pommes frites with that?”
The real problem is that machines have taken over many jobs done by people. So, to re-level the playing field the machines should also have a minimum wage. Of course, in return they need to pay federal income tax and FICA – it’s only fair. Ultimately, the machines will be doing all of our work and paying all of our taxes too! mmm…machines…

Let them raise it. The end result will be pretty much the same; raise the minimum wage to $60 million/hour & get ready to pay $35 million for a gallon of milk (on sale) and $20 million for a loaf of bread.
I think they tried this in Argentina or Costa Rica or Mexico where a gazillion pesos are worth 50 cents…
I use to sell Thomas Cook travelers cheques. I was at First Wisconsin bank in Milwaukee in the international department where I sold foreign currency travelers cheques. A couple of guys came in and were stuffing every pocket they had full of pesos and the Mgr. asked me to come over. They asked why we didn’t have a Peso travelers cheque…I told them we prefered some “backing” to the currency we issued…they understood…
Reminds me of tales of Weimar Germany before World War II.
