Doubting Their Own Patriotism

Why is it that anti-war vets mention their service so much? There was a guy on O’Reilly last night who was for convincing people not to enlist in the military, and every other thing out of his mouth was, “I’m a nine year vet!” Here’s a video of Jon Soltz trying to say Hillary is a friend of the military, and he keeps mentioning “I was in Kosovo!” and “I was in Iraq!” And, of course, there’s John “I Served in Vietnam” Kerry.
It seems a little… insecure.

  1. Not only that, those people will say “I support the troops” while defaming the President as Commander in Chief. We need to teach our kids that the President IS one of the troops. If you attack the President, you attack our troops. ~from a vet submariner.

  2. I saw that guy. Bill asked him several times if he thought it would be a good thing if Iraq stabilized. He dodged that simple question every time until Bill just became disgusted with them.
And, yeah, Ringmaster. What you said.

  3. Much like the so-called conservatives who loudly proclaim their love for immigrants and Mexicans, just not “the illegal ones”.
If I sound testy, it’s because Dick Cheney anally raped me.

I assume it’s because they are trying to say, “See what the military did to me? It turned me into the pathetic, traitorous weasel you see before you!” But, unbekownst to them, this doesn’t work because they so obviously started out as a pathetic, traitorous weasel.

I like for people to be able to drive a car, just not “illegally”. Like when they are underage, drunk or changing clothes. Does that make me a hypocrite?
Also fyi. I’m pretty sure there’s not such thing as being an illegal Mexican. You can be in Mexico illegally, but as far as I’m aware, Mexican citizenship is not in and of itself a crime anywhere.
Sanjayrupta Pravati are you a Mexican?

  6. Just being in the military doesn’t make one an expert commentator on the military. I served in the Air Force for 8 years. I fixed computers (desktop PC’s)and painted buildings a lot. Oh and there were some sandbags to fill…nothing REALLY important going on, but then Bill Clinton was in office too. He got defamed by military members pretty regularly, at least the ones I knew.

  7. That’s what I like about this place. ‘Tards come in, speak their mind and then get stomped on by Elephants and Monkey’s. Sanjayrupta Pravati, is it possible we’re misconstruing what you said? Perhaps you need to “find your very deepest level” at eHarmo.

  8. But shimauma, I was in the service when Carter got elected. I have NEVER seen a group of 80 people more depressed that day in my life! Today, our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen are there because they WANT to be. It’s natural for all of them to have opinions about the credibility of their boss. I can only imagine what so many thought of Bill “Cheeseburger” Lincoln-Room-For-Sale Clinton.

  9. Hillary Clinton is most definitely NOT any friend to the military. Has anyone asked her yet as to why her hubby’s administration did it’s best to hobble it & turn it into a social experiment for gays, with her full support? How about her treatment of military personnel during her stint as Frost Lady; she made it damn clear that she didn’t want to see any MilAides in uniform unless it was absolutely necessary.
Their thoughtless & wasteful use of military resources for little more than getting from one photo-op to the next while cutting operating budgets should be an insult to any serviceman/woman, past or present.
Just because she has a bunch of narcissistic veterans behind her doesn’t mean it’s viable support for the armed forces. If she had serious support from CURRENT military personnel, especially from the leadership, that might be different.

  10. Jimmy-
I actually hadn’t seen that video before. I have a miserably slow connection, so it takes a long time for EweToob vids to load; that’s why I have so much time to rant… lol!
Thanx for the link. That was funny. And I ain’t voting for Barry either, but I’m betting you guessed that already.

  11. Yes, indeed, Alan. People think the big “O” stands for Obamination. Actually, it’s a zero. ‘Cause that’s what the Democrats offer – with the possible exception of people like Lieberman.
