  1. When I was a kid I can remember thinking that if I won a Nobel Prize it would make my parents very proud. If my kid comes home with one I will have to start paying closer attention to the crowd they are hanging out with. NPP winners may not be as bad as drug dealers, but global domination should send up some red flags too.

  2. The worst part about this disgusting travesty is that it drowns out totally the news that LT Michael Murphy, USN has been awarded a posthumous Medal of Honor. That is the real story, but I bet dollars to donuts the dinosaur media says nothing about this. The timing is sadly ironic.
Algore is a pathetic bloated worm.
[Now there’s an award that still means something. -Ed.]

  3. The prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, and economics (the last, strictly speaking, not being a Nobel prize) still mean something. There have been occasional mistakes made, but there’s not a pattern of giving awards to somebody simply because his work meshes with the prejudices of the awards committee.
The prizes for literature and peace, however, are simply a joke. Who’s going to win the peace prize next year? Fidel Castro? Osama bin Laden? Vladimir Putin?

  4. Running list of candidates:
    #1: Jimmy Carter hands down
    #2: Al Gore
    #3: O.J. Simpson
President and Vice and golfer/slasher extraordinaire. If anyone has a better list, I dare them to compete with mine. Go ahead, I double dog dare you…I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!

  5. I heard about this on the radio and found an odd mixture of disgust and peals of laughter from the absurdity of it. Apparently, Stockholm doesn’t get any news from Great Britain. Otherwise they might have heard that even the Euroweenies realize that Gorebag’s “documentary” is a load of unverified, completely backward, political tripe.
And yet Europeans still seem to be able, with a straight face, claim superiority of intellect over the US. Guess Masengil moved their manufacturing to Sweden.

  6. I think SVJ is right. Smart money for next year should be on Fidel.
Probably get some extra socialist sympathy votes since it will be a posthumus nomination; this year being the 40th anniversery of his best bud’s assuming room temp won’t hurt, and of course he will have the same kind of fantasy film going for him that ALgore did, courtesy of the behemoth Michael Moore.
Yep boys, put your money on Castro for the farce that will be NPP 98.

  7. I think it’s generally understood that receiving the Nobel Peace Price means you’re a douche. It’s right up there with being a great soccer player, winning an award for interpretive dance, or landing a spot on survivor / big brother 15.
