The Social Conservative Case for Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani was a great leader for New York City and I’m sure he’d kill tons of terrorists as leader of the U.S., but a lot of his record is a hard sell to social conservatives. Still, his campaign is trying to prove he’s just as acceptable a candidate to social conservatives as the other leading Republicans.
THE SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE CASE FOR RUDY GIULIANI
* Giuliani has never gay married.
* Despite people claiming he’s hostile to social conservatives, Giuliani has never (directly) killed one.
* He’s promised to appoint Supreme Court Justices like Roberts and Alito and to stop greedily rubbing his hands together and asking, “You wanna abort that baby?” every time he sees a pregnant woman.
* In a display of family values, he won’t have a public mistress for at least the first term.
* While not as religious as some other candidates, God has never felt the need to smite him.
* Giuliani will only gun grab to admire the gun and promises to hand it back afterwards.
* He will continue to beat to death drug dealers with a tire iron as always.

    • Giuliani will only gun grab to admire and gun and promises to hand it back afterwards.—Yeah, maybe after a trip through the smelter
    • He will continue to beat to death drug dealers with a tire iron as always.—All Fred Thompson has to do is glare at drug dealers, and they explode and die, while Rudy’s still trying to find his tire iron.
  1. Just remember, who would you rather have for 4/8 years: Rudy or Hillary? I like Fred! too, but the election is most likely going to be between Rudy and HRT.
The social cons are gonna elect Hillary to spite the noses on their faces if they aren’t careful, and then we’ll be in far worse trouble than we would with Rudy.
    Anything But Hillary!

  2. Next to Fred Thompson Rudy looks like Richard Simmons only way more gay! Fred doesn’t need the help of a tire iron…that’s for pussies! He uses his bare fists and only one punch to send terrorists to their doom! Fred will also pass a new law making it mandatory for all US citizens to not only own a gun but to carry one…any citizen who refuses will be exported to France! Fred will also perform abortions on any woman asking for an abortion…a new measurement will be adopted…actual age will be used for determining the abortion. A woman that is 25 will be aborted at 25 via lethal injection…

  3. Ah, the reality that is the wet firecracker of Fred Thompson’s campaign is setting in!
Anyone who calls themselves the Republican base and is not willing to rise from the dead to vote against Shrillary is just being patently absurd.
Sadly, it’s the independent (i.e. those too stupid to know what they think) votes that will swing this election, and Rudy can pick up PEE-LENTY of those.
So cheer up – you’ll soon be able to watch all the Fred you want on TV, and the GOP will have a fighting chance with Rudy.

What would you rather have for the next 20 years: 4/8 years of Hillary and a GOP that returns to its conservative roots, or a future where Giuliani is the conservative standard-bearer and anyone to his right is dismissed as unelectable?

I am definitely voting against Hillary. It’s just that that vote isn’t going TO Rudy.

Good. He’ll need them to compensate for all the conservatives he’s alienating.
By the way, if my party abandons me, why am I made out to be the bad guy?

  5. I am definitely voting against Hillary. It’s just that that vote isn’t going TO Rudy.
But what if the nominee IS Rudy? Will you stay home from the polls that day, thus ensuring a 2nd “President Clinton”?
Or will you vote for a 3rd party candidate who won’t get enough votes to do anything meaningful with (think Perot), and thus lead to another 2000, with the Florida judicial system calling the results?
I for one would love to see Fred! beat her in a landslide, but if he doesn’t even get the nom then I WILL still go to the polls and I WILL still vote for her most electable opponent.
If/when Hillary becomes Pres, social cons who stay home from the polls or throw their vote away have no one but themselves to blame.

  6. Rudy is not a model conservative, by any means. But he’s pretty much right-leaning or libertarian on most issues, he’s an effective executive, and he is tough. I feel much better about him defending the Constitution, our lives, and our freedoms than Hillary, who I believe would sell our freedoms for her own power and her globalist vision.

  7. Speaking of Hillary. I wonder if she could be convinced to withdraw from the race for the right sum of money? Seems to be all she wants anyway. (fogdog, you give her too much credit for having any “globalist vision.”) 30-40 million of us could chip in a dollar each and maybe she’d go away. Or are the Chinese promising her more?

  8. Please, all of you who think that Rudy can beat Mrs. Bill – don’t forget, there’s still a VP position. Rudy won’t do much harm as a VP, but can help with the swing votes. Can’t we have Fred as Pres, and somebody to the left as the VP?

  9. Or will you vote for a 3rd party candidate who won’t get enough votes to do anything meaningful
No, I’d vote for a 3rd party candidate who would get enough votes to tell the GOP to stop taking conservatives for granted and get some real nominees. Of all the possible scenarios for 2008, a Giuliani presidency is probably the WORST case for the conservative movement for the next 20 years. A Giuliani win would render social conservatives a non-entity in national politics, and set a precedent where any serious candidate would have to either share Rudy’s views or be further to his left (for the good of the party and to keep swing voters from voting for Obama in ’16, naturally).

  10. And who is this third party savior? Fred can’t work up enough energy to win the GOP nomination – you’re delusional if you think he’s willing to run a third party campaign.
Did you happen to catch the Dummycraps tonight? Did you hear their answer to every problem facing the nation? Bigger and bigger government. Edwards went so far as to say that yes, there should be NO LIMIT to government bailouts of people that are determined to live in disaster-prone areas.
You wanna throw a tantrum and stay home, or waste your vote on a Don Quixote candidate, then this is the government you’re gonna get.

  11. If/when Hillary becomes Pres, social cons who stay home from the polls or throw their vote away have no one but themselves to blame.

Blame will go where it belongs: On all the idiots who endorsed the two leftists.
If you vote for someone who’s position you don’t endorse, you HAVE thrown your vote away. End of discussion. It’s because of gutless scum who do that that we’re in the mess we’re in.
Besides, haven’t you seen the news? Hillary is guaranteed to win. Why would you “throw your vote away” on anyone else?

  13. You wanna throw a tantrum and stay home, or waste your vote on a Don Quixote candidate, then this is the government you’re gonna get.
That’s the government we’re gonna get eventually if we back Giuliani as the conservative standardbearer. Look how far left the Democrats went from ’00 (when most said there was no difference between Gore and GWB) to ’08. As much as I’d hate another Clinton administration, the GOP could use a similar rightward drift. Some time in the desert might do them good.

  14. I’m going to say something scary this Halloween. In a Rudy/Hillary race, your third party candidate to vote for is RON PAUL. While RP is definitely NOT our man as nominee, his wackoo views actually ARE a wake-up call to the Republican party’s deafness.

  15. What happens in the event that the president elect is assassinated?
    Is the runner up President?
something to think about due to the fact that in the past there have been a curious number of people who speak out against the Clintons dying a short time after under mysterious circumstances, and there is her apparent alliance with the chinese gov’t.

  16. Mkay [[THIS IS VERRRY IMPORTANT]], I like Fred as much as the next person, infact I think he’d make a damn fine president. But the fact of the matter is that he wouldn’t beat Hilary on the national scale. In the primaries, vote with your principles. In the national, vote with your principles. But when choosing the next leader of our (that’s right, OUR) country you can’t be thinking in black and white. I don’t see it changing much between now and the primary elections, so for the sake of the rest of this post I’m gonna say it’s Hilary and Rudy. Is anyone who calls themselves a Republican SERIOUSLY going to stay home or vote for the independant when HILARY has as much support as she does?!! She would be a complete NIGHTMARE, as everyone on the site knows, so we HAVE to beat her. That’s not going to happen if Republican votes are being siphoned off to independants or not used. I’d vote for Fred in the primaries, but the fact of the matter is I don’t think he’d make it to national. When nationals come around, you have to think flexibly. If it’s Rudy and Hilary, vote Rudy. He might not be socially conservative, but he gets the threat and is willing to kick serious terrorist ass. Look at abortion (an important issue for me). I don’t like the idea of a pro choice pres any more than the rest of you. But look at Reagan, an amazing president and pro life. He appointed that bitch O’Connor that’s been the swing vote for makin killing babies legal. Rudy may be pro choice, but he’s also ANTI ABORTION, unlike Hilary who is also pro choice but also PRO abortion. Rudy doesn’t want PBAs, he’s against federal funding for abortions, whereas Hilary wants to make them quick and easy to get. Think about the big picture, and whether your principles would be best honored by not voting for a more liberal candidate or LETTING a VERY liberal (and horrifying in so many other ways) candidate get the job.
