Seems they updated some of the questions on the American Citizenship test.
I don’t have a problem with this, myself, but – having looked over some of the questions – I think the new version completely discriminates against stupid people.
For example, here’s a test as completed by an avid reader of Daily Kos
- What is the supreme law of the land?
Markos Moulitsas Zúniga - What does the Constitution do?
Gets in the way of our good intentions - The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
Kneel before Kos - What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?
Destroyed by Bush - What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
Free health care - What is freedom of religion?
You can practice any religion you want as long as it’s not offensive, like Christianity - What is the economic system in the United States?
Oiling the machinery of commerce with the blood of the working class. - What is the “rule of law”?
Inconvenient. - Name one branch or part of the government.
The New York Times Op-Ed page. - What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful?
Cindy Sheehan - Who is in charge of the executive branch?
A Chimp - Why do some states have more Representatives than other states?
Racism - If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
Nancy Pelosi, who – by the way – is totally hot! - What does the President’s Cabinet do?
Insults our nation’s multicultural heritage by containing too few minorities. - What does the judicial branch do?
Writes the laws that Congress is too chickens#!t to pass. - What are the two major political parties in the United States?
The Good Guys and The Baby Eaters
17.What is the political party of the President now?
Nazi - What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?
Oppressive religious patriarchal jingoistic demagoguery - What are two ways that Americans can participate in their democracy?
Voting and vandalizing Army recruiting centers - What major event happened on September 11, 2001 in the United States?
America got what it deserved
Now how is that fair?
Little retard never stood a chance.
Very good Harvey, I’m also impressed you only used “racism” once, you probably could have fit it in at least, oh…… every time. But that’s the lazy man’s way.
I knew we kept you around for a reason.
4. What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?
Destroyed by Bush
Best one.
The sad thing is that I really would believe that this was taken by a Kos reader.
I think the new version completely discriminates against stupid people.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. Don’t we have enough of them here (in the US I mean) already?
19. What are two ways that Americans can participate in their democracy?
Disrupting 9/11 memorials & defecating on US flags.
Demanding the strict enforcement of separation of Church & State while simultaneously demanding that the State legally recognize the right for gays to be married in the eyes of God.
Getting a job that has lots of “flex/paid time off” days. Using said days to skip work to participate in moronic anti-American protest rallies.
Heh. I’ve always mainained the Libtards could never take the oath of office, I never thought about the test.
&otI just can’t believe they took out the question about “Give me liberty or give me death.” (Patrick Henry) That’s something that everyone should be taught. (SIGH)
And may I propose another addition:
Q: What American said: “Extremism in the defense of Liberty is no vice. And may I remind you, moderation in the pursuit of Justice is no virtue.”
A: Barry Goldwater
(Side note: Generally even nutty people don’t push for gay marriage to be forcibly imposed on churches by government (though some may push for change within a church), just for recognition by the civil government for the purpose of access to basic legal rights. Just had to clear that up.)
Give Federal Judges something to change.
Treason and anarchy
142. Name the legal ways to treat the American flag.
Wearing, dragging, burning, desecrating…
There is something about Harvey that really scares me.
If this test were adminstered to all of the 384 commenters who compulsively respond to every post on the DailyKos, you would find every one of those answers somewhere.
(Maybe Markos should change his name to Pavlov.)
You almost could have pulled that from the news article about a high school in the People’s Republic of Boulder.
My favorite part is the student who doesn’t say the pledge because she’s not in favor of the war in Iraq. I give her first marriage six months.

HA! Alice that child won’t marry; she’s going to live in an earthmother commune somewhere in Oregon eating yogurt out of a handthrown pottery jar and scarfing twinkies when she gets the munchies.
I think this test is too hard. All they need to do for citzenship is find out if the applicant liked “300” or heard of John Wayne. If not, out they go.
You folks actually sound just like Kosites, with a taste of Beavis and Butthead. You waste a whole evening setting up straw men and caricatures and knocking them down, in the company of people who all agree with you. This is beyond group-think… it’s mental masturbation. Try sharpening your arguments in a reasoned debate instead of dulling them in this forum.
(Yes, I would say the same on Kos.)
Sounds like someone just read Ayn Rand for the first time.
Anyway, dada.lope, IMAO is not about reasoned discussion, it’s about cruel mockery of those who hold beliefs that are stupid & dangerous. Most IMAO readers will, if asked, be happy to demonstrate, with logic and reason, WHY those beliefs are stupid & dangerous (i.e. not supportive of the long-term survival of a society of free men), but just not HERE.
This is humor site.
I don’t know what Kos’s excuse is.
Look, he used all the correct buzzwords. He came off all superior. He did the moral equivilence thing. Cantalope, I would truely be impressed by your formulaic finger wagging if it hadn’t all been done before.
Well, we do try all that, lala.dope, but in order to have a “reasoned debate” with others… like the fine folks at Kos… it requires a couple of things that they cannot provide, which are;
A) The ability to be reasonable. Kinda hard to have any conversation with someone while they’re verbally flinging poo at you.
B) An open forum. This site allows just about anything to be posted in it’s comment sections, even really dumb statements from whiny blowhards (see comment #14 above). Generally, only the particularly spiteful & nasty stuff gets booted. At fine sites like Kos’s, however, you have to “register” in order to post anything there to begin with. That’s not uncommon for many different blogs, but the difference is that you would be subjected to so many foul responses that you would have to realize the validity of point “A)” above. Then there’s the fact that attempting to engage in a “reasoned debate” at Daily Kos gets you banned from the site & your comments quickly deleted.
I’m sure that you believe that you would say the same on Kos.
Sure, if only you could.
I see.
You’d like to keep playing in the sandbox.
Bye.
Aww… don’t be mad; You did contribute, after all-
With you around, it felt more like a catbox.
